The fale was really spacious and comfortable for two people. We stayed for 3 nights and loved it. All the staff at Tanu were amazing, welcoming and friendly. Different family members were regularly around, helping out and keeping everything clean and tidy. The food was good - breakfast and dinner were included, with a different meal every day, and very generous portions. The water around the property was crystal clear and perfect for swimming. We didn't do any snorkelling but did see a turtle swimming not far from the shore one evening while sitting in our fale! Note that there's no traditional beach, but instead a retaining wall separating the property from the ocean. You can still easily get in to the water with a few sets of wooden steps spaced along the length of the property. As an added bonus, the game had a light and a power outlet. Tanu is also on a great spot on the north shore of Savai'i so if you want to stay in one spot as a base, it's easy to get around to pretty much every main site to visit if you have a car and happy to drive around (approx. 1 hour 45 to the middle of the south shore...
Read moreTanu Muese Beach Fales owns a big piece of our hearts, every time we leave, it’s like leaving family. The atmosphere, the people and the fact that you get a bit of the traditional Samoan way of living, we love it. People there are so welcoming, friendly and including. We had a nice quiet time, and we also joined the locals playing volleyball. We loved the laughter and joy we heard from the locals around us, or the Samoan music in the distance, while relaxing in our palm hut. It’s lovely to wake up to the sound of the waves breaking on the reef, or sitting on the beach front watching the beautiful sunset. There is also a great place to go snorkeling, and if you’re lucky you can see turtles.
Sometimes they hold a fiafia, a Samoan traditional celebration.
The food was great, large portions and a nice mix of Samoan food and more western traditional food. Tea, coffee and lovely fresh fruit.
We absolutely adore Tanu Muese Beach Fales, the traditional Fales (palm huts), the location right on the water front, and most of all the...
Read moreStayed for two nights. Staff is very friendly, food is basic/okay, fales are beautiful and clean, in the mornings and afternoons water was clear, you will absolutely see wild turtles here ,even from your fale, and swim together with them if staying here, besides turtles, not much to see, great for swim, feels like pool. It was very quiet here. There is a beach very close by. They have drinking water for free. The place needs a little love and care, while we were there, one couple who visits every year, did more work than workers.. place is a little run down, needs some refreshing. Be careful walking barefoot, there are nails, broken glass, cigarettes on the ground. One of the bathroom’s was without water numerous times. We used freezer for our cold drinks and happened to see inside kitchen, very very messy! Place has lots of potential and they are slowly repairing things ( what we hear from couple that visits every year). Nice spot, needs some working hands and will to make it a better,...
