There were several things I loved about this waterfall:

  1. The road extended almost all the way to the actual swimming area
  2. There were picnic tables along the route to the swimming area
  3. There are several swimming areas downstream
  4. The swimming area is large and can accommodate several big groups
  5. The jumping ledges were between 35 and 50 foot drops
  6. Very good snorkeling

I cannot remember how much we paid to get in but it was well worth the cost. This is an awesome place and the water is very powerful. We tried swimming up to the actual waterfall and we could feel the power of the water pushing us back. We were at a standstill before giving up to the power of the water.

One thing to note is the sharpness of the lava rocks used to pave the walkway. Several in my group were barefoot and quickly decided against it.

As you walk up to the swimming area, you can see lots of natural springs popping up alongside the route. It is so beautiful and amazing to see that much water just springing up from under rocks. It's a great place to learn about spring water and how water is filtered through porous rocks. Even as you swim in the waterfall area, you can see all the mini waterfalls coming out from the sides of basin. It is truly amazing! 💥

I included pictures of us going down the "stream" to encourage taking your "pool" toys. We had floaties that we were able to ride quite a ways down. This is an awesome...

We had an amazing time here, for the price and what is available we felt it was very reasonable! they have a toilet on site, picnic tables and plenty of space to have a swim even if it is busy! the main waterfall has rocks you can jump off, the water was very clear and super refreshing on a hot day, it got a bit busier at the main waterfall so we went back down to the smaller pools and had them completely to ourselves, the smaller pool even had a little man made dam that would make excellent swimming options for smaller children! very clean, very safe and super friendly staff, all for WST $10 per person. Parking is slightly limited but other than that, would highly recommend, it's a...

We haven't been to this freshwater swimming hole and waterfall since 2017. And despite the long period between swims, it was still outstanding. With areas where you can jump off, through to parts where you can relax and let the smaller spouts drum a massage into you shoulders and back, Afu A'au was a much needed refreshing swim. Only 30mins from the wharf, you will not regret taking the time to make it out there. And now, they have stairs carved from the rocks to make it easier to get in. So, why wouldn't you want to...
