Santichon Village — Attraction in Mae Hong Son Province

Nice little getaway from the hectic town.. lots of shops selling local snacks, free samples, wines, etc. - funny thing yesterday, all the wine they sell here are much cheaper than the prices they charge at sunset view (350 a bottle / 600 for 2). In the Chinese village it's 250 a bottle / 400 for 2.. and they have way more selection. You can taste before you buy , unlike the view point place I went to yesterday. The girl at the shop gave me lots of samples lol Snacks here are also very good price compared to other places.

This place also has archery, shooting, etc., However I don't recommend riding the horse. The animals are exploited for tourism.. charging 50 per ride, don't support such abuse, and for that I will take off 1+ point.

From what I read the people here are ethnic Chinese from Yunnan in China, they provide for themselves as they do not have Thai citizenship but refugee status, and need permission to leave the province. I recommend checking it out as you will be helping out the villagers.. and they are not as greedy for money as other tourist places here in Pai.. heck, they don't even charge a entrance fee here. This place is steeped in Yunnan culture. Basically, this place was flooded with Chinese as they escaped China during the cultural revolution. About 200 families of Chinese descent currently reside here. Their ancestors were formerly part of China's Lost Army when they fled the Red Army of Mao in late 1940s. Today, they still retain their unique Chinese culture which makes this little village most interesting. There's a couple of Chinese restaurants that serve quality Yunnanese food. So do check that out. The steam buns or Mantou with condense milk dip is simply divine. I smuggled some out of the restaurant and fed it to one of the horses. We became instant buddies after that. This place still retain their traditions of horse riding and archery. Visitors can receive coaching for those 2 activities for a modest fee. They also grow their own tea here. Even though Chang Dao is still number for tea, this place is fast catching up. Head for one of the huts and enjoy a cup of chrysanthemum tea. It's light and soothing. สวัสดีครับทุกคน! ผมแอดตั้มเองครับ วันนี้ผมขอพาทุกคนไปสัมผัสวัฒนธรรมและบรรยากาศแบบจีนยูนนานแท้ๆ ที่ "หมู่บ้านสันติชล" ครับ! ผมเพิ่งได้มีโอกาสไปเยือนมาด้วยตัวเอง และบอกเลยว่าที่นี่มีเสน่ห์มากๆ ครับ เหมือนได้วาร์ปไปเที่ยวเมืองจีนจริงๆ เลยทีเดียว!

สิ่งที่ผมประทับใจและอยากบอกต่อแบบละเอียดๆ ครับ:

สถาปัตยกรรมจีนยูนนานที่เป็นเอกลักษณ์: ตั้งแต่ก้าวแรกที่เข้ามาก็สัมผัสได้ถึงกลิ่นอายความเป็นจีนยูนนานเลยครับ มีบ้านดินสไตล์จีนโบราณหลังคามุงจาก (เหมือนในรูปที่เห็นบ้านดินอยู่ด้านหลัง) และประตูทางเข้าสไตล์จีนที่ยิ่งใหญ่อลังการ (เหมือนในรูป _6M28085.jpg ที่เห็นซุ้มประตูสีแดง) ทุกองค์ประกอบล้วนสะท้อนถึงวัฒนธรรมจีนได้อย่างชัดเจนครับ ชุดจีนโบราณให้เช่า ถ่ายรูปสวยปัง!: ไฮไลท์ที่ไม่ควรพลาดเลยคือการได้เช่าชุดจีนโบราณสวยๆ มาใส่เดินเล่นและถ่ายรูปครับ (เหมือนในภาพที่เห็นคุณผู้หญิงใส่ชุดจีนสีชมพูสุดอลังการ) ชุดสวยงามมากๆ ครับ มีพร็อพอย่างพัดจีน หรือเครื่องประดับผมมาให้ด้วย ทำให้ภาพที่ได้ออกมาดูสมจริงและมีเรื่องราวสุดๆ ครับ มุมถ่ายรูปที่หลากหลายและสวยงามทุกจุด: ที่นี่มีมุมให้ถ่ายรูปเยอะมากจริงๆ ครับ ไม่ว่าจะหันไปทางไหนก็เป็นมุมที่สวยงามและเหมาะกับการเก็บภาพความประทับใจครับ สะพานไม้ทอดยาว: มีสะพานไม้ที่ทอดยาวไปในบริเวณหมู่บ้าน โดยมีซุ้มโค้งและโคมไฟจีนแขวนประดับอยู่ (เหมือนในรูป _6M27886.jpg และ _6M27897.jpg) เป็นมุมที่ถ่ายรูปออกมาแล้วดูสวยงามและมีศิลปะมากๆ ครับ ริมบ่อน้ำ/ลำธาร: มีบ่อน้ำเล็กๆ หรือลำธารที่รายล้อมด้วยบ้านเรือน ทำให้ได้ภาพที่ดูมีชีวิตชีวาและเป็นธรรมชาติครับ ซุ้มประตูจีน: เป็นอีกหนึ่งมุมยอดนิยมที่ใครมาก็ต้องถ่ายครับ ได้ภาพที่ดูยิ่งใหญ่และน่าเกรงขาม ท่ามกลางบรรยากาศหมู่บ้าน: การเดินเล่นในชุดจีนไปตามจุดต่างๆ ของหมู่บ้านก็สามารถเก็บภาพสวยๆ ได้ทุกมุมเลยครับ สัมผัสวิถีชีวิตและวัฒนธรรมท้องถิ่น: นอกจากจะได้ถ่ายรูปแล้ว ที่นี่ยังเป็นแหล่งเรียนรู้วัฒนธรรมของชาวจีนยูนนานที่อพยพมาอยู่ที่นี่ครับ มีร้านอาหารจีนยูนนานอร่อยๆ ให้ลองชิมด้วยครับ ข้อแนะนำจากแอดตั้มสำหรับเพื่อนๆ ที่จะมาเยือน:

เช่าชุดจีนโบราณ: ถ้าอยากได้รูปสวยปังๆ และเข้ากับบรรยากาศแบบสุดๆ แนะนำให้เช่าชุดจีนโบราณที่นี่เลยครับ มีให้เลือกหลายแบบหลายสีสัน มาช่วงเช้า หรือบ่ายแก่ๆ: แสงจะสวยกำลังดี ถ่ายรูปไม่ย้อนแสง และอากาศไม่ร้อนจัดจนเกินไปครับ เตรียมกล้อง/มือถือให้พร้อม: เพราะคุณจะต้องถ่ายรูปเยอะมากแน่นอนครับ! โดยรวมแล้ว "หมู่บ้านสันติชล" เป็นสถานที่ที่ผมประทับใจมากๆ ครับ ถ้าใครมาเที่ยวแม่ฮ่องสอน โดยเฉพาะปาย และกำลังมองหาสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวที่ได้สัมผัสวัฒนธรรมที่แตกต่าง ถ่ายรูปสวยงาม และมีเสน่ห์เฉพาะตัว ที่นี่คือคำตอบที่ไม่ควรพลาดเลยครับ!
