The castle is quite small and nobody is allowed inside. It's good for a half day visit. We can walk around the fence all around the castle. Some maintenance work was going on and some people just walked into the garden nonchalantly even though they were not supposed to. The old vibe given is quite good.. Especially the shops opposite to the castle. There is a great small nearby museum. Do not go without visiting the museum(Matehaf Alfarij museum). That's the best part of visiting the castle. There is an entry fee of SR 10. The owner is an enigmatic person who is quirky and loves his job. It used to be an old house and he has collected many items and kept it open to the public. More interesting things are the old heritage houses on a lane beside the castle. Lucky for us, we met with a person who used to reside in the place as a young boy and his grandfather’s house is part of the heritage houses. He regaled us with tales from his childhood and how the area has transformed. Lot of houses are in ruins and need to be rescued.
