At the entrance of Aranđelovac there is pećina Risovača (Risovača cave). It is one of the most famous Paleolithic sites in Europe, as a habitat of man from the ice age. In this cave the fossil bones of cave bear, mammoth, rhinoceros, cave lion, leopard and deer were discovered, as well as interesting artifacts that represent elements of culture of early and late Paleolithic. The central place is given to sculptures made of polyethylene resins, which represent a Paleolithic family: father makes the fire, mother carries wood, one son makes tools, and the other one is ready to go hunting. Because of its archeological and paleontological importance, and because of its natural value, this cave vas declared for cultural heritage and it is protected as a natural monument of the first category. Nice and...

In the heart of Serbia, a small cave hides many secrets, a life-size Neanderthal entrance, a living cave where there are still drops of water and beautiful stones that she revealed to us when she approached the light of her phone to that treasure that previously looked like an ordinary rock. , a little deeper and a small pool with water, but insufficiently researched and weak advertising, near Arandjelovac. Our guide was a lady with black hair, a string..which we are grateful for such a detailed explanation for each segment of this treasure where mammoths, bears, wolves once lived .. We waited for 45 minutes for the group to gather so that at 2 pm we could just buy tickets and only then all...

Tucked just at the edge of Aranđelovac, Risovača Cave is a hidden gem that beautifully blends natural wonder with deep archaeological history. This "underground museum" immerses you in the Paleolithic era through lifelike Neanderthal reconstructions around a hearth and astonishing fossils of Ice Age fauna like cave bears, lions, mammoths, woolly rhinoceroses, hyenas, and more, unearthed during excavations in the 1950s and beyond. Although the cave spans a modest 150–190 meters in length, it packs a fascinating punch—revealing human evolution, geology, and the dramatic artistry of natural mineral formations like marble onyx and flos-ferri (iron flowers) hanging from the ceiling.

If you are plan a visit, make a call ahead of your arrival to learn when group tours will start that day. You can't explore cave on your own and tours are starting each 2h, depending on interest. Also bring head lamp or other light source, because cave isn't lit. Definitely worth a visit and you can learn a lot about cave and it's history from guides.
