I've recently returned from a trip to Belgrade and naturally being from England, football, football matches, and football stadiums are always on the list. I initially went to check out the Red Star Belgrade stadium then ended up going to the museum where I was greeted by an extremely friendly and knowledgeable guy working in the museum. Sadly I can't remember his name. On my way out of the museum I was asked by another guy who was working there if I fancied doing the stadium tour which was about to start. I agreed and paid the difference between my entry to the museum and the tour.
I've done a number of tours of stadiums, but this one was by far the best. Could it be that it was because it was just me and a Chinese tourist? No, definitely not. The tour was given by the friendly guy whose name I can't remember and it was great. Not only did he provide useful and detailed information, his approach and manner made it really special. Our tour was going so well it over ran and ended with me and the Chinese tourist to take some pictures in the press area while our guide had to leave and start another tour.
I came away from the tour with real positive emotions and a new found affection for Red Star.
I didn't have the opportunity to tell the tour guide what a great job he did, so thought I'd write this review in hope his boss might read it. He's been working there 19 years and hopefully provides another 19...
Read moreI have visited many stadiums, and this one is by far the worst.
To begin with, reaching the stadium itself is a challenge. It’s nearly impossible to get there without wading through mud and puddles or risking your life crossing highways, as there is absolutely no pedestrian infrastructure around the venue.
At the entrance, the security staff were rude and randomly confiscated personal belongings (and to be clear, I had nothing prohibited). Turnstiles and ticket scanners at the gate didn’t work, and I had to explain with gestures that I actually had a ticket.
Speaking of the staff, not a single person spoke even basic English, which made communication unnecessarily difficult.
As for the stadium itself, it’s in terrible condition. After the match ended, I couldn’t wait to leave. However, even that turned out to be a struggle. The exit process was poorly organised, with bottlenecks forming several times - on the way out of the sector, on the circular path around the stadium, and finally at the exit to the street.
Overall, the experience was highly disappointing, and I wouldn’t recommend this...
Read moreI were back in the ninetens for the first time, not much impressed tickets were false we bought another on stadium. Object left impresion on me until today, to much flashes, petards I were in the midle of chaotic situation when was small stampedo pushin us from the back in first line (actually I heard from mass that was police use gas against vandalist in the last seattle line to break them down on flashin petard agony. At halftime I was witnes off person who suit t-shirt with croatian national mark until he burned serbian flag logo 100 feet from me, boys target him what he doing and with couple punch in the head they bring him back under under the safe wing of the fans and imediately search to take off the t-shirt. Was kind of bad expirience for me, previously on the road for Belgrade all night bunch of drunk fans sing red star songs bursting from compartment to compartment with a bottle of cheap vodka all along the train forcing the other fans to sing with them, the noise was unbearable, they could drive the dead out of the grave from the...
