This lovely semi-artificial lake lies on a plateau called Vlasina in the south-east Serbia. The lake is surrounded by the mountains of Čemernik, Gramada and Vardenik. One of the lake's most distinguished characteristics are the floating islands. There are about thirty floating islands at the time. Driven by the wind, islands float from one lakeside to another, carrying the flora and fauna. Fish would find shelter and food under those islands. The largest such island, known as Moby-Dick by the local population, has an area of 2 hectares.
