A Wonderful Hike! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The Copolia Trail offers an exceptional hiking experience that is both visually stunning and easily manageable. The trail is relatively straightforward to ascend, although it's advisable to carry water as the temperature can rise significantly, even in the morning hours. The popularity of the trail means that it's frequently visited, creating a sense of shared adventure.

While there's a nominal entrance fee of 100 Seychellois Rupees per person, it's well worth the cost. Towards the trail's conclusion, you encounter a small ladder ascent, which is securely anchored to the rock face. This adds an enjoyable touch of adventure without posing any difficulty.

One of the highlights of the hike is the opportunity to observe Seychelles' unique flora and fauna. If you have concerns about spiders, simply keep your focus on the path ahead. Although you might spot spiders in their webs, they tend to stay relatively motionless and won't disrupt your hike.

In summary, the Copolia Trail provides a memorable journey through Seychelles' natural beauty. It's an accessible adventure that rewards hikers with breathtaking views and an up-close encounter with the local ecosystem. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or new to the trails, this experience is definitely...

Difficulty : Moderate Duration : 2½ hrs

Getting there: Take the Victoria-Sans Souci-Port-Launay bus route 14 at the Victoria bus terminal and ask the driver to drop you off at “Nature's Own” garden. You will find a trail sign board at a bend in the road.

With an altitude of 300-580 metres, the Val Riche-Copolia trail is situated within the Morne Seychellois National Park and a variety of interesting species can be seen there. The main attraction, however, are the Pitcher Plants (latin: Nepenthaceae, german: Kannenpflanzen) which grow here, next to the highest point.

Described as one of the best and easiest accessible areas to see most of the specialised glacis flora at intermediate altitude in the Seychelles, the Val Riche-Copolia trail has an exceptionally high biodiversity with a very rich collection of endemic species. This includes rare endemic elements like Bwa Mediz (Medusagyne oppositifolia) and Hederorkis...

We do not normally hike and found this trail quite steep. It took approximately an hour to climb but the path was well laid out and the view at the end was very much worth it. We arrived at a good time after noon and there was no one else at the summit. We were surrounded by shrubs of carnivorous pitcher plants endemic to Mahe island deeply rooted amongst the large granite rocks, which was very interesting to see. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and breathable clothes and bring plenty of water! The entrance was 100 SCR per person and card payments are accepted. We had initially planned to do the Morne Blanc trail but decided to turn around a few minutes into the trail as there was no proper path visible for the climb. It was a good decision to do the Copolia trail instead, which was a moderate climb and less than 10 minutes drive from...

Great hike, about 60 minutes. Closed shoes are necessary and enough water to drink, since it’s quite exhausting (steep paths). You can park your car directly on the road at the start point of the trail, there is a small booth where you pay the entrance fee to the NP. Our kids (9&5 years old) loved the hike because of the “jungle explorer” feeling. And the views are well worth the effort!!! You can see the whole St Anne NP to the east and the whole northern part of the island as well as far down to the south (incl the airport and the planes landing there). To the West you see the Morne Seychellois, the highest hill of Mahé, that is about 300m higher then the viewpoint at the end of this hike. The plateau at the end of the hike is full of the carnivorous pitcher plants. It’s not as circular route, you have to return the same way

It was a great experience going for this solo adventure trip. I had to register and pay 100 rupees by card (only card accepted) at the ticket counter. Car can be parked around the place in the road. please take few water bottles and gear up with sweat free tshirt, shots with towel. No shops around, so pls carry water bottle and snacks. I wore a light weight sports shoe which was good enough for the journey. The trails are well marked and also got few milestones. The jungle was vibrant green and almost calm and only could hear the birds at some places. It was little harder and bit steep at the end and almost a small steel ladder to climb the top of the mountain. The view point is a reward of the beautiful landscape of Island and pristine beach. I met few families with Kids and school students who made it to the top.
