Cousin Island Special Reserve of Nature Seychelles — Attraction in Cousin

The island is a wonderful place for birds and many other species. The guide was also really good and was explaining well what they are doing to protect the birds and maintain the ecosystem. But this island is also a paradise for mosquitoes. Thousands of them will follow you around. Be prepared and wear long sleeves shirt and a leggings if you do not want to be annoyed by them. Even mosquito repellent was not enough for our group. An alternative will be to visit Aride for the same fauna and flora experience...

Cousin Island war ein absoluter Höhepunkt unseres Seychellen-Urlaubs. Die Tagestour ab Praslin mit dem Katamaran hatten wir über TUI/Masons gebucht – nicht billig, aber jeden Cent wert. Besonders lustig war, dass die Kat-Tour von Sophia einer Deutsch-Seychellia mit schtuagatta-Dialekt geleitet wurde. Nochmals vielen Dank an Sophia. Das Übersetzen vom Kat mit dinghis war super organisiert. Bemerkenswert die Ehrlichkeit der Guides. Eine Digitalkamera war am Sammelpunkt liegen geblieben. Sie ordneten sie anhand der Aufnahmen dem richtigen Kat zu und konnten sie dem schusseligen Besitzer zurückgeben. Die local guides auf der Insel sprechen zwar nur französisch oder Englisch – reden und erklären viel und das doch deutlich verständlich. Ich habe jedenfalls alles verstanden. Witzig: überall Vogelkot und Eidechsen – die Guides laufen barfuß. Die Vogelwelt ist faszinierend. Vögel brüten am Boden und man kann fast ins Nest greifen ohne dass sie fliehen. Der absolute Höhepunkt war als plötzlich Riesenschildkröten aus dem Unterholz kamen und sich ganz handzahm streicheln und füttern ließen. Ich hatte den Eindruck, sie freuen sich regelrecht auf den Besuch der Touristen. Mückenspray ist ein absolutes Muss. Tipp für Fotographen: Im Dschungel sind lichtstarke Objektive mit f2.8 angesagt. Brennweite von UWW bis starkem Tele; mind. 300mm, 400-600mm sind durchaus praktikabel. Negativ: sanitäre Anlage praktisch nur als stinkendes Plumpsklo vorhanden. Für Frauen indiskutabel. Männer verdrücken sich besser...

Sono stato in vacanza alle Seychelles ed ho visitato l'isolotto con una escursione in catamarano organizzata dall'agenzia Creole.

tutto veramente meraviglioso e stupendo, l'isola è un paradiso della natura quasi del tutto incontaminato con bellissima foresta, una pontile lunghissimo che ti porta al centro dell'isoletta e ti fa scavallare sulla sponda opposta.

stupendo l'incontro con le tartarughe giganti e l'oasi perfetta per il connubio natura/uomo, sono libere si fanno accarezzare e ti guardano con delle faccette buffe.

dalla parte opposta dell'isola c'è una splendida casa (quella del medico dell'isola al tempo in cui veniva usata per i lebbrosi e per abbandonare i neri ex schiavi, la villa è in ristrutturazione a causa delle termiti che la stavano completamente mangiando, ma lo stile coloniale è perfettamente distinguibile ed è stupenda ammirarla anche cosi.
