If you're looking to spend the day on one of Seychelles' most famous beaches, complete with rustling palms and gigantic boulders, make your way to Anse Source d'Argent. If you feel like you've seen this sandy stretch before, you probably have: Anse Source d'Argent has been used as the backdrop for numerous advertising campaigns for Bacardi Rum, Campari and Bounty Chocolate. You'll find this picturesque strip of shoreline along the southwest coast of La Digue. However, unlike other Seychelles beaches, you'll have to pay to play here. If you're looking to sprawl along Anse Source d'Argent's white sand you'll need to fork over 100 SCR (approximately $8 USD) to L'Union Estate, the plantation that sits adjacent to the beach.
Despite it being one of the only beaches requiring admission, recent visitors say that Anse Source d'Argent is well worth the trip if you're on La Digue. "Anse Source d'Argent is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited," one TripAdvisor user claimed. "I can see why commercials are shot in this location!"
You'll find Anse Source d'Argent about a mile south of the island's ferry port. You can easily reach the sands on foot or by bike; the beach welcomes visitors any day of the year as long as L'Union Estate permits entry (you can call ahead to make sure). While here, you can also take advantage of the plantation's facilities, including...
Read moreMy favorite beach in Seychelles. Simply stunning. The granite rocks gives it so much character. It looks as if a huge explosion happened and all the rocks were flung far in the air before landing back down. The water is shallow and warm. The sand is white and soft. There are several beaches separated by the standing rocks, but there’s a pathway behind the beach for each section. There are plenty of spots where you can find shade, and you’ll want to have a break from the sun. The easiest way to get here is on a bike you’ve probably already rented for the day in La Digue (highly recommend renting a bike to get around in La Digue). Pay the 115 rupees at the L’Union Estate entrance and bike all the way down. They’ll give you a wristband for the day and you can go in/out the property until close. They change the color of the wristband daily so people don’t reuse it. You may opt to skip going through the estate if you walk/swim over. Before you enter L’Union’s property, there’s a small helipad by the water. You’ll find a small pathway to the water right before the helipad. You can access Anse Source d’Argent via the water from there. The tide is lower in the morning but higher later on so keep...
Read moreAnse Source d'Argent lives up to it's reputation as one of the most photographed and majestic beaches in the world. The giant granite boulders and turquoise water left us stunned.
One of the most picturesque beaches we have been to! It does get quite crowded during the day but as day trippers leave by evening, you can get the beaches all to yourself (and there are quite a few of them if you keep walking forward).
We based ourselves next to a cute little beach bar who kept making excellent fresh fruit cocktails for us (150SCR a drink). Once you have a day pass, you can step in and out all day, and we even ventured out to pack some takeaway to eat at the beach.
We tried the crystal water kayaking (the lazy version - where they tow you tied to a boat, and it's perfect!) And got a view of the beautiful rock formations from afar the beach (like the drone versions you would see online). It was amazing.
Spend the day there, pack everything you can want (food, drink, towels, snorkels, book, etc) and head there. No one will ask you to leave even when it gets dark and we left post sunset in almost pitch dark. It...
