The BUKIT BROWN CEMETARY TRAIL is an interesting OFF THE BEATEN TRACK HIKE over a jungle covered hill in the NOVENA AREA, of Singapore. The trail takes in some unusual attractions, the most notable being a very large CHINESE CEMETERY which, in many places is overgrown with heavy foliage. The trail, from START to FINISH is approximately 4.3 km long. Much of it is through a heavily forested area. The trail start point is on KHAEM HOCK ROAD, on the right hand side, just beyond the tunnel exit. Look for a small shrine with several Buddha Statues. To the right of this is a SLOPING TRAIL which leads into the forest. From the FOREST ENTRANCE the trail meanders along the edge of PIE EXPRESSWAY. After approximately 10 minutes of steady walking you will arrive at a FORK, indicated by a YELLOW SIGN with CHINESE LETTERS. Take the LEFT HAND trail (down the steps) to get to the ABANDONED CARS site. Note: From the YELLOW SIGN, there’s no directional markers. The trail meanders through shrubbery and GRAVE SITES which are overgrown with THICK FOLIAGE. A few meters beyond the yellow sign, the trail branches to the LEFT and down a slope. It then levels out and passes through several grave sites. The ABANDONED CARS are located approximately 150 METERS from the Yellow Sign. From the Grave Sites the trail drops into a gulley and then leads uphill to eventually arrive at the Abandoned Cars. There are THREE OLD CAR BODIES here which provide a bit of conjecture how they actually got there. At some point in the past, there was possibly a road which led into the area. Evidence of the history of the area is now overgrown. To get to the next site, the AVATAR TREES, follow the trail back to the YELLOW SIGN. Safe Travels, Mega.

Nice and peaceful hiking spot. Looks like a scene in an apocalypse movie.

Went Abandoned Car Trail Temple Avatar Trees MacRitchie Bukit Timar, reached 30k steps that day. Will require a hiking stick just to whack the bushes. Make sure to wear long pants and possibly bring a jacket too if you don't want leaves (some of them suspiciously furry) brushing against your bare skin.

There's a pretty good guide that's easy to find if you google 'Abandoned Car Trail Singapore'. The entrance to the abandoned car trail is actually either higher up north than marked here, or can be accessed from near...

First hike of 2025! It was an AMAZING HIKE. We did the following:

Botanic Gardens MRT Station University Road Kheam Hock Park Trail Entrance Abandoned Cars (two and a half cars) "Avatar" Trees Bukit Brown Cemetery Lornie Highway Bus Stop Adam Food Centre (pit stop, via bus) Botanic Gardens MRT Station

Difficulty level = 2 out of 5. It would be good to bring hiking poles along, especially for the first two portions of the Trail.

Here are some photos of the Abandoned Cars and the trail...
