Catered Purple Sage for my grandma's 80th birthday. Viewed their buffet selections online and went with the 'Iris' one but needed to swop out some dishes for vegetarian and non-beef dishes. I ended up with a customised Iris menu as recommended by their customer service consultant.
Purple Sage sent two of their couriers to set up the buffet on the day of the party - I was really pleased with the quick, effective and neat buffet set-up – which took less than 20 minutes.
I collated some feedback from my guests about the food: • The pasta salad was an appetising start to the entire meal, and it was quite delicious. • My guests really liked the laksa which was the ‘hot pick’ that went out within the first hour! • The baked tandoori chicken was flavourful but a little dry – especially after the first hour. • The broccoli with mushrooms were flavourful and saucy but wasn’t as popular amongst the guests – I suppose because it was hard to pair it with the rice or laksa. • The cereal fish fillet was popular among the children and tasted fresh and flavourful. • The chicken rendang was one of my grandma’s favourites – it was very flavourful, and the chicken was very tender. • The potato croquette was another popular dish among the children, but many said it was ‘too mushy’ and ‘less crispy’. • The prawns in san pei sauce were somewhat similar with the broccoli with mushrooms – a little too saucy to go with the rice or laska. • The chicken and mushroom rice had too much leftover and not many guests touched it as it was too dry and the certain parts of it were not cooked, which was really disappointing. • The cheng tng was too hot and kept boiling which led it to be evaporated and little was left by the time my guests started on the desserts. • The dessert and fruit punch added a ‘cooling’ touch as it was quite warm on the day of the party.
Some of my personal thoughts: • The utensils and cups were not sufficient as some of the guests threw their plates and cups away so I had to stop them and told them to re-use which was I guess a bit weird, from their context. • I also thought there would be more noodles for the laksa because when I lifted the cover after the buffet was set up, I realised the noodles were quite little. • I was also disappointed with the colour set up as mentioned above – I thought it would be the iconic Purple Sage purple. • I was also disappointed with some of the dishes like – chicken and mushroom rice, prawns in san pei sauce, cheng tng, baked tandoori chicken, broccoli with mushrooms and potato croquette.
Overall, my guests and especially my grandma enjoyed themselves. I would definitely use Purple Sage catering in the future, but would like to see improvements on the...
Read moreI recently engaged Purple Sage for my housewarming event, and I must say—what an incredible experience it turned out to be!
When it comes to food quality, there really isn’t much that needs to be said—Purple Sage's reputation speaks for itself. Their culinary standard is, in my opinion, an open secret. That said, I must give special mention to their laksa. It came highly recommended by their sales representative, Ms. Venise, and it absolutely blew us away. I’m someone who typically doesn’t enjoy laksa or spicy food… but I ended up having four bowls! That should say it all.
Working with Ms. Venise was nothing short of amazing. She was extremely professional, responsive, and went above and beyond—even under very short notice. Knowing this was for our new home, she proactively ensured every detail—from menu to setup—was the best it could possibly be. Her dedication and personal touch made a real difference, and it didn’t go unnoticed.
The setup team was another highlight. They were punctual, highly skilled, and worked with impressive speed and coordination. It was clear that they knew exactly what they were doing—from food handling to setting up the entire layout seamlessly. Their professionalism gave us peace of mind on such an important day.
What began as a random catering selection ended with a meaningful partnership. Purple Sage isn’t just another catering company—they’re a team that puts their heart and soul into making your event truly memorable. Thank you, Purple Sage, for making our housewarming so special. I am sure I will be a long term...
Read moreThe end-to-end service starting from enquiry to buffet set-up/clean-up was exceptional. We have catered from other luxury buffet companies and Purple Sage owned this hands down.
We order the Lilac buffet for our child's birthday party with request to tweak the menu to remove spicy dishes. Our experience started with the consultant, Venise, who accommodated to our requests professionally and promptly. She also went extra mile to note the party's theme so the buffet decor can complement. Thank you Venise.
On the actual day, your staff came and set up the buffet area seamlessly. And we were truly surprised by the extent of the decoration. Post party, the same staff also cleaned up efficiently, without spillage accidents.
What I particularly like about their menu is the ample selections for quality carbs and meats. The past luxury buffet companies we've engaged tend to limit carbs/meats and fill up the buffet package with salads, charcuterie which really isn't to ours and our guests' palate.
We will definitely engage Purple Sage for subsequent gatherings. Thank you for spoiling us with decadent food...
