A very nice medieval castle with a rich history. There are many rooms, as well as a well and a torture chamber that can be visited with a guide. An old linden tree, which has stood for centuries and witnessed much history, grows near the main gate. Definitely worth a visit. Free parking and a reasonable entrance fee.
Unfortunately, there is no original furniture in the castle, as it was taken to the Czech Republic during the period when Czech officials were working in what is today Slovakia. After the dissolution of the Kingdom of Hungary and the establishment of the Czechoslovak Republic (October 28, 1918), there were not enough educated officials, teachers, policemen, soldiers, or other professionals in Slovakia who could speak Czech or Slovak and who were loyal to the new state. Most officials under Hungary were Hungarian and many refused to serve the new republic. While there isn’t much to see in terms of art or fancy architecture, the visit was still worth it. The tour was cozy and gave us a good idea of what life was like in the past. However, it’s important to note that the tour was only in Slovak, so it’s not very English-friendly. There’s also a small cafeteria where you can grab a snack.

Throughout the years it is being reconstructed more and more and each year further parts of this castle are being made accessible for tourists. The best season to visit it is July-August however it is possible to agree on a visit as well in other months by calling in. The castle breathes the middle-ages atmosphere and offers beautiful view from its windows on the nearby land.
