Prvé zmienky o hrade siahajú do 15. storočia, keď obec vlastnili bratia Kazovci.

Prevažná časť miestností, sál a chodieb si zachovala pôvodný interiér z obdobia baroka, rokoka a empíru. V 19. storočí boli niektoré miestnosti ešte zmenené a zariadené podľa vtedajšej módy.

Poschodový objekt štvorkrídlového pôdorysu s ústredným nádvorím má všetky znaky reprezentačného sídla. Klenutý podjazd s priehľadom do nádvoria vedie na reprezentačné schodište, ktorého architektúru doplnili maliarskymi a sochárskymi dielami odzrkadľujúcimi vplyvy talianskeho a rakúskeho umenia.

Pozornosť púta aj izba tapetovaná dobovými ilustráciami najmä z francúzskych humoristických časopisov, poľovnícke zbrane a trofeje, lesnícke zariadenia, nástroje a pomôcky a ďalšie exponáty.

Kaštieľ aj areál parku sú prístupné verejnosti.

We visited the park outside the Castle, but did not go inside. Someone else wrote that the entry fee is €10 or €12 for a longer tour. The park was very nice to visit in sunny weather. You can stroll along a path in the forest above the castle, and they also have information signs about the people and the stories of the castle. Some of these were very interesting. The park may need some maintenance, but it didn’t affect the experience. Download the Google translate app and use the camera translator to read the signs, unless you can read Slovakian. There is also a cafe here and a small souvenir shop. Pay for parking in the newsstand next to the parking lot. €3 for...

The Castle and Museum are an amazing and unexpected gem of historical collections, mainly from the travels and expeditions of Ferdinand I of Belgium, who held this castle in his family and seems to have used it often. However, some of the history goes back even to the 1700s. There are numerous original paintings, photographs, and other artwork, furniture, and other historical items to look at. There is a guided tour in Slovakian with a detailed English written guide. The staff also speak English. I would recommend planning at least two hours...
