The Orava Village Museum in Zuberec is a truly beautiful and well-maintained place that impressed us with its authenticity and charm. The historic village is surrounded by the stunning landscape of the Roháče mountains, adding to the unique atmosphere of the visit. The beautifully preserved houses, filled with fascinating historical artifacts, offer a captivating glimpse into the lives of Orava’s past inhabitants.
We greatly appreciated the affordable entrance fee, free restrooms within the village, and the convenient free parking located directly by the museum. There is a wide variety of souvenirs available, and the exhibitions are well-described—although it is worth noting that descriptions in Czech are unfortunately missing, which might be a slight drawback. On the other hand, the staff is very friendly and helpful, ready to answer any questions you may have.
The museum is also ideal for children aged around 5 and up, who can better understand the historical context and enjoy the exhibits.
In addition, the museum’s surroundings offer even more attractions. During the winter, nearby ski slopes are perfect for skiing enthusiasts, while in the summer, the area becomes a paradise for hikers with its extensive network of hiking trails. Accommodation options are plentiful in the vicinity, making it convenient for visitors who wish to stay longer and explore more of this beautiful region.
Overall, this was a very enjoyable experience that I highly recommend to anyone who loves history, culture, and spending time in the fresh air in a picturesque setting. The Orava Village Museum is definitely worth a visit!

They showed us typical houses from the past and he was playing the typical instrument "heligonka" all the time. At the end they gave us a tea and a shot of typical alcohol from honey (for kids there was a chocolate). It was included in price (8 € adults). By the time we were there enjoying our drinks, our guide with another 5 participants where singing traditional songs from the Orava region and dancing traditional dances. It was super...
