Divje Babe — Attraction in Cerkno

Located on a top of plateau, Divje Babe is one of the most famous archaeological places in Slovenia, famous for its Neanderthal flute, which is considered to be the oldest remain of a human musical instrument. The scenic church os St. Ivan is located on the top of plateau, and a short walk down the hill is a cave where they found the flute along with many animal remains, mostly bear bones, dating back more than 100,000 years int the past. Great visit. If you come from far, beware that the guided visits are three times a week (Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 10am starting at the nearby church) during July and August! Dalla Chiesa si apre un panorama a 360°, c'è Mosè con le tavole dipinto sulla facciata a ovest e alcune panche e tavoli in legno per una sosta contemplativa prima di intraprendere una discesa impegnativa ed un ritorno alla preistoria dentro una grotta dove circa un decennio fa hanno ritrovato un manufatto preistorico, conservato in Museo a Lubljana: un flauto ricavato da un femore di un orso che è diventato la più grande attrattiva per questi anfratti e che è stato riprodotto per essere suonato da un compositore e dai suoi successori.
