  1. Moderate to strenuous hike on rocky trail; wear closed shoes (sandals do not suffice) and take mosquito repellent with you 2) carry at least 0.5 litres of water per person 3) study trail before you go or use an app such as Kimoot because you can get lost easily - short or long trail - took us about 3 hours to complete 4) never go off trail because there are steep cliffs with 150 meter drops you don’t see immediately. 5) Parking. There are at least two major parking spots so remember the name of the parking spot where you parked. Do not follow pin in Google maps that guides you to the little pink/salmon coloured chapel. The two small roads do not go to the correct location. Use the following coordinates instead - there is limited off road parking - do not drive past the do not enter with cars sign to avoid being fined. (copy and paste into Google maps for the off road parking spot - last picture is where you want to park). 93F3+W64 Zgornje...

An amazing walk through a (mostly) dry limestone gorge, through caves and cracks and peaceful nature.

We caught the free bus up from Bled and instead of getting off at Zatrnik we went on a further 1km or so to where a forest road went off to the right and asked the driver to drop us off there. Follow your way down the road to where there is another sharp right and you can drop down onto the Slovenian Geological Trail. You can then descend all the way downhill to the car park through the gorge and the galleries and then walk out to Krnica to get the bus back. This way builds the surprises as you make your way down.

There wasn't anywhere to get refreshments in Krnica but there is a Mercator supermarket and a bar by the bus stop in Dolgo Brdo a further 800m down the road. In total the walk was 8km from getting off the bus to the...

Smaller than I thought but so worth it! There is a small car park at the start of the trail on the east side. You will pass some signs that say No Entry to cars that are not locals, but there is a car park for 10 or so cars just down the road past the sign. The gorge itself is an easy walk, albeit some large rocks to climb over at the beginning and then you climb up to a Garden of Eden on top! I have never seen anything like it. The gorge splits and a garden, almost tropical rainforest type, appears in the middle and you walk between the gorge walls through this lovely garden. It is quite spectacular. On the way back you walk through the forest along the top of the gorge. I expected everything to take longer but you could do this in 1.5 - 2 hours quite easily, but as it is free and pretty there is no reason why you...

Do not use this pin as a reference to get to the gorge. From the road there are 2 routes that will take you nowhere. To actially get to the pokljuka gorge please use this coordinates 46,3789467, 14,0418430 and you will get to the car park at the beginning of the route. Except of the problem with finding the route's beginning it was a fantastic experiance. We had 3 teenagers and 2 small kids (6 and 9 years old). Smaller ones must be supervised most of the time but the treck is doable for them. Absolutely recommend!
