1 | A beautiful waterfall within easy driving distance from Lake Bled. It is definitely worth a visit.
2 | You can view the waterfall from three different spots and I recommend checking them all out. The easiest access is from the road where you just step out of your car. You can also walk down stairs and a forest path that leads right to the waterfall, and there is even a rocky trail that lets you go behind it. If you keep going uphill, you'll reach the upper waterfall.
3 | The rocky path can be a bit challenging if you're not used to regular physical activity. Think of it like climbing eight flights of stairs.
4 | Visiting the waterfalls is free, but starting in 2025, there is a fee to drive on the access road. There is a gate partway up and from there it's about a three-minute drive. The first hour is free, then it costs around 3 euros. There are only a few parking spots directly near the waterfalls.
5 | Our entire visit to the waterfalls, measured from gate to gate, took 58 minutes. We hiked the hill quickly but spent a lot of time taking photos and enjoying the views.
6 | We visited the waterfalls on a Tuesday in July at 8:30 in the morning. There were just two other cars and a group of eight people...
Read moreWe planned our trip based on the previous reviews. (Which unfortunately is outdated now as we planned to park near the waterfall viewpoint.) We are a family with limited mobility ie with not so good fitness level compared to the other tourists here. We used Google maps to drive to the location up to a point where there were barriers and there were parking spots (where you have to pay) just before the barriers. From this car park we are told it’s a 3 km walk which was not something we were planning to do. We were told by the nice gentleman at the barriers that there was no shuttle from the barriers but a bus from Mercato can bring us into the waterfall. We parked at a paid parking spot near Mercato and took the free bus up to Pericnik. The bus is at every hour. When we got off the bus, everyone else immediately climbed up the trail which was too steep for our liking. Instead, if like us you were not planning a hike, I recommend you walk forward and see the waterfall from below. (The bus going back into Mercato was 10 mins early so I recommend that you are there earlier than the stated time on schedule because the next bus could be...
Read moreBeautiful high-level waterfall with views all around it of the surrounding valley. Regarding the parking situation … We were told by the guard at the gate that there was no parking to go to the waterfall and we needed to leave our car outside and walk one hour to get to the waterfall. But this does seem to be a matter of opinion. So let me clarify: Can you go into the park with a car and get close to a waterfall viewpoint? Yes, you can. But it’s not THE waterfall viewpoint. It’s the start of the 15 minute hike up to it. Is there an official parking? No, there isn’t. But there are parking pretty much as official as the parking area that you are expected to use before going through the gates by foot. In short, you can probably find a place to leave your car if you are intending to go up and down the waterfall hike in about 20 to 30 minutes. And this certainly seems to be the inside knowledge that all the cars you see inside the national park already have. Is the one hour walk to the waterfall beautiful? Sure, but I wouldn’t say it...
