Zelenci Nature Reserve is one of my favorite places to visit in Slovenia . The entire reserve is named after the lake’s colour; Zelenci which means green in Slovenian. Entry here is absolutely free , but make sure to try out the coffee at the cafe located at the entrance of the reserve . A beautiful, emerald green lake. Springs of water appear in the lake that look like small geysers. There is also a lookout tower where you can go up and enjoy in wonderful view. On the tower are instructive boards describing the animals species that live there and the mountains visible from the tower. The paths are clean and tidy. Easily accessible. Suitable for toddlers and strollers. Beware : many cyclists apparently do not see a sign that with bike is not allowed to go on path. Let's follow the rules. This will protect our well kept trails and nature. Wonderful environment, great rest for the eyes and soul.

This green island was formed through centuries of sedimentation of soil and water that came from the mountains surrounding it, becoming the home of the upper source of river Sava. Dense evergreen forest gives place to shallow marshes with water flowing slowly to the east. A calm, quiet, beautiful and easily accessible place, it's a pity that it isn't a bit more away from the main road. Update Sep 2023: the place is visited so don't expect to find absolute peace here; special feature are water springs at the bottom of the lake which were visible this time and really look like small volcanoes.

Il Laghetto Zelenci è una riserva naturale protetta che si trova ai margini del Parco Nazionale Triglav. Le sue particolarità sono: 1)Piante particolari come una specie di pianta carnivora, uccelli e anfidi 2)Il fatto che durante l'inverno il laghetto non ghiaccia mai perché ha una temperatura costante di 6° Il colore dell'acqua è anche caratteristico verde smeraldo tendendte al blu che anche nelle "bianche" giornate di neve è ben evidente Scoprirete il laghetto Zelenci subito dopo il villaggio di Podkoren, sulla parte sud della strada principale. In questa riserva naturale hanno trovato dimora numerose specie di piante interessanti, tra cui anche la drosera carnivora, mentre tra gli animali sono numerosi gli anfibi e gli uccelli nidificanti. Si trova sul bordo settentrionale del Parco nazionale del Triglav, abbracciata a sud da Vitranc coperto da boschi, a nord invece dalle Caravanche, altrettanto boscose. La zona umida con palude Drni è lunga circa 1200 metri, larga in media 150 metri, nella parte più larga circa 200 metri, nella parte stretta invece solo 20 metri. Nell'acqua è posssibile vedere molte sorgenti di acqua che risalgono dal fondo. L'area è stata dichiarata riserva naturale ed è possibile visitare il laghetto passeggiando su una passerella di legno che costeggia il lago. C'è anche una torretta di avvistamento per vedere uccelli e ambiente. Io l'ho visto in inverno durante una nevicata, molto suggestivo, ma ovviamente non ho visto specie animali. A great place to take a break and view one of Microsoft Windows's background screens in real life. It's an easy walk from the carpark and cafe down to the lakes. Watch the fish from the jetty or climb up the steps into the observation hide. Get there early if you want a picture without any people on the jetties or take lots of pictures without moving your camera so that between them you should be able to combine the empty bits of the images together
