We have visited several caves throughout Europe and this was by far one of the best caving experiences we have had. Before going ensure you take warm gear as the temp remains at approximately 0-5 degrees! We recommend taking a beanie, gloves & a jacket. A lamp is provided for the tour, this makes the experience way cooler than other caves!
It felt like we were going on a true exploration of the cave, with condensation coming from our breath even before we entered the cave. Be warned, the cave does not have good walkways and the ladders into the caves are slippery, but take your time to enjoy this uniqueness.
Only 2000 visitors over a 2 month period get to enjoy this. If you would like an English guide, phone ahead to ensure you get one, otherwise you get a pamphlet which explains the experience.

This way you would have both hands free which is quite needed on the steep ladder and icy slippery trail. The path is also not secured with a railing or rope in many places, which makes it quite challenging. Many people in our group almost fell and a warning on the website or about this is needed. Read moreCrazy Slovenian cave starting at 0 degrees in the ice/snow part. Really beautiful underground world. About 45 minutes walk to the endpoint and then back. Cave is only accessible with a (paid) guide who leads the way and tells about thing to know. Our guide only spoke Slovenian and German. Us being Dutch we didn't understand everything. Keep in mind that getting up the mountain by car is at least a 30 minute off-road experience. That is after the asphalt road part that is also about 20 minutes from the valley. Would surely...
