Honiara International Airport — Attraction in Guadalcanal Island

Neely opened International airport terminal. Got to admit, it exceeds my expectations for Honiara. Staff were kind, if a bit slow but we got there. No shops in the checkin are which was not great but it was new so they may arrive. There was aircon, huge plus. Go through and the toilets were super clean and everything worked. Seats great and again in the waiting area there was aircon.👏. Really clean. The shop inside only took cash 👎so no points there but look, you can’t ask much more for a two hour wait in a comfortable air conditioned area. This airport does not meet any international standards, no ATM, closed duty free area, no exchange office, the staff does not check the luggage and does not find anything dangerous in it, but they try to invent their international standards by extorting a bribe for bringing a laptop or explaining that you can't take an expensive perfume 100ml on board and you have to leave it to them. very rude staff threatening not to fly anywhere if they don't get a bribe. the fat woman at the security check is a shame and a disgrace to this country that she...

I was greeted by a Solomon man that appeared to be in his early 40s, and he immediately offered me tea and told me to have a “jolly old time.” What? I was so confused.
