⸻ I visited Lido Beach on the third day of Eid. It’s a beautiful beach—and maybe it was just my impression, but it felt surprisingly long. Unfortunately, the construction happening right next to it is starting to squeeze the beach. I wish building permits were more restricted—perhaps a 100-meter distance from the shore should be enforced. I went in the late afternoon, and it was quite crowded. You can easily find tea vendors and life jackets along the shore. I had a cup of tea there—it cost just 4 Somali Shillings, less than 25 cents. While I was enjoying my tea, some preachers came up to me. They reminded me—very politely—about fearing God, not neglecting my prayers, keeping a strong connection with Allah, and lowering my gaze from women on the beach. They were approaching everyone with the same advice and didn’t ask for any money, saying they were doing it for the sake of God. I actually appreciated it. The beach has multiple access points and was truly clean. It’s definitely one of the top places to visit in Mogadishu. I’ll come again—and next time, I’ll swim!
