I can not fault Mystic Monkeys facility. The animals look very healthy and very happy everything is beautiful maintained and I can really recommend Mystic Monkeys for a family outing.
If I may give any suggestions it would be that visiting schools/ groups especially very small children school group's MUST be accompanied by a Tour guide from the facility as this might avoid what had happend today.
Our experience of the day took a quick turn when a group of 10+ small kids younger than 5 accompanied by teachers/adults had not adhered to strict rules displayed very clearly on each cage of every wild animal A small girl from this spesific school group around 4 years of age I'd say had stuck her hand into one of the Monkey cages and they Monkey then grabbed the childs arm causing majoy panic for animals and children alike and had cause quite a scare for my 2 kids being aged 8 and 11 further to this these small kids accompanied by teachers where not making use of the facilities restrooms which is very neat and tidy. This group of kids boys and girl where urinating right there under tree infornt of each other and everyone there. This IS not allowed and my children's day was spoiled after this event.Thank you for you hard work and dedications in making this facility into an extremely beautiful maintained place, not one wild animal had a dirty cage. Well done too you and your team. Your receptionist lady was very helpful and friendly ,she sure made is feel home with a her beautiful smile and friendly...
Read moreIn general a good experience. Animals are fed and cages clean.
But I found some of the animal enclosures were just too small!
Black panther at entrance paced up & down. He did not seem happy. Not enough space for such a wild animal.
Some of the bird enclosures were very small especially that of the beautiful White & pink Macaw parrot. He seemed depressed and sad. As if he screamed after us not to go. I actually cried. I don't think he can spread his wings even in that space.
Other Younger panthers were also kept in small unpersonal cages and the seemed tense with people coming so close to them. Some people even touching them, as the cages are very exposed to humans. They are still wild animals.
Look I don't want to be that one person to complain but I love animals.
I could see that they are working on fixing or expanding enclosures further and it must be a huge challenge.
I do hope you will expand the bird cage much higher so that the birds are able to fly around a bit. Example like Joburg zoo.
For the other larger animals like the big younger cats please just place them in the larger cages like the cages at the back.
I think what you are trying to do is a good idea and it cannot be easy but finish the enclosures first before placing the animals.
Thank you for your efforts and allowing me...
Read moreStarting with the negatives. The restaurant could use an upgrade. Many of the dishes on their website is not available at the place and it is expensive for what you are getting. I suggest you bring your own snacks.
Although most of the staff are friendly and enthusiastic, the front desk could use somebody that actually wants to be there. She did not offer any advice or info unless specifically asked.
Many of the enclosures are not marked and you have no idea what is in there.
The last 10km of the public road is very badly maintained and filled with potholes. Would not be a good idea to drive there at night or in the rain.
After getting off the freeway the route is clearly marked and you will find it easy. Ample parking is available.
The grounds and cages are very well maintained. There is a large selection of animals that you would not normally see elsewhere.
A lot of different monkeys, baboons and apes. Also some panthers, jaguars and tigers.
The kids can play with some of the babies.
This place was great to come and see the animals and worth the drive to come out...
