Blouberg Nature Reserve is truly a gem. Travelling from Vivo, use the first entrance. There is currently an error with the location of the main entrance gate on Google maps. We stayed at Molope campsite. There are 6 private campsites all with huge Weeping Boer Bean trees offering shade. The ablution facilities are basic but clean and well maintained. There is no power in the camp. Hot water is provided by donkey and lights at the bathrooms by solar power. After all the rain, the park was lush, so visibility was not great and we did not see as many animals as we had hoped for. The beauty of the surroundings, the mountains, the birds and the magnificent trees more than made up for it. Take note that the 4x4 route to the vulture breeding area is rocky in parts and that the drive takes longer than expected - plan accordingly. It's well...
Read moreBeautiful camp sites with no electricity and a donkey geyser. Enjoyed the peace and quietness. Ample roads in park to travel on to see the game. You need a 4x4 to utilize this the best. Staff friendly and helpful. Amazing trees throughout the reserve. The Cape Vulture colony, the herd of buffalo and some new bird sightings made this visit an excellent experience. One concern we had that the majority of the game ran away when they hear your vehicle. Either they not use to vehicles driving around or vehicles are used to catch them to move them to other areas. Will visit again. Suggest that management compile a list of birds that can be seen in the reserve, a numbered list of the trees already marked and a list of the game that can be found in...
Read moreWhat a serene place. Wow!!! Had a wonderful time away with my youngest daughter and likeminded Land Rover owners. Game is not hard to spot and we had some beautiful sightings of giraffe and antelope and buck species. Birdlife is prolific and birders can sit and spot species to hearts content. Ablutions are minimalistic but the water was hot for those who wanted warm water and refreshingly cold for those who wanted to cool down. Super friendly staff and we will hopefully make a trek there in the not to...
