Steenbras Lookout Point — Attraction in Cape Town Ward 100

Decided after my an amazing muscle release treatment at The Hydro in Stellenbosch where I was staying, that it was a good day to go enjoy a bit of a drive to the ocean! It was sunny for the first time in a couple of days so the outdoors were calling! 🤸🏾‍♀I actually said my Mom wouldn't even want to be a passenger on the slightly steep road to the top. I felt like my womb was dropping out of my body 😂 but it was exciting and the view once up up there is nothing short of Godly!

Oh, also saw spring water seeping through rock on the side...

This place has a good view of Gordon's Bay, Strand and Somerset West. At the horizon you see Khayelitsha, Mitchell's plain, right through to Simon's Town. Steenbrass is an outlet clear water pump station from its dam above Gordon's Bay mountain. It is one of the key sources of water to the City of Cape Town’s Bulk Water Supply. Athletes and the general public use the steep road to do their hill repeats. Sport Cars, Motor Bikes and Cyclists love this place; testing their "gadgets"...

The reason for visiting is to enjoy the view over False Bay. We went 30mins before sunset so had the advantage of the view of the Bay in full sunlight through to sunset. Many people take a few beers or a bottle of wine to share while enjoying the view. Depending on the time of year it can become chilly when the sun goes down so take an extra layer. If you are afraid of steep drops from the side of the road you may wish to take the footpath! Well...
