The Rietvlei Section is the main section of Table Bay Nature Reserve. It is an important ecosystem as it is a combination of terrestrial and wetland systems that host a variety of life forms. It is also an important bird site as there are migratory birds that make use of the wetland. Two bird hides are found here, for bird enthusiasts to enjoy bird watching. The section also has an environmental education centre that has important information about the reserve. Read moreIt's beautiful and I'm glad it exists, but it's very tiny. I don't think there are any two points that you can walk that are more than 2km apart.
Plus the picnic area is basically just a couple concrete benches and tables by the water. It's nice if you live in the area and just want a spot to enjoy lunch by the water among nature. But not worth venturing out of your way to get to.
A very important habitat, but a limited one nonetheless.
I do like the birding viewpoint though. Bring a pair of binoculars.
