Read moreI had promised to take the kids for a picnic at the Majik Forest only to wake up on the day to find pouring rain. Upon the kids' insistence, we went any way and walked in the forest with our jackets and umbrellas in the pouring rain. It was so beautiful and lots of fun to watch the Egyptian geese and ducklings. On the drive there, I saw that there are many wine farms all along the same road. So a week later, a bunch of us enjoyed a day of wine tasting at the various farms and then ended our day at the Majik Forest with a packed picnic. There are a few under cover tables and a lovely jungle gym for the kids to play on. There's also a paved pathway for an easy walk as well as a natural pathway amongst the trees for those who are more adventurous. It was a lovely family outing that all could enjoy. I didn't see if there was a bathroom within the park but the Majik mall is just across the road and we could easily cross the road and just use the mall's bathroom. Several walking paths run up the steep sides of the park - just be careful or the mountain bikers with whom the walkers share the paths.
An area of the park has been equipped with children's play equipment, all very well laid out, and there is a large picnic area. I did not see any evidence of rowdy or drunken behaviour, no littering (there are bins, unlike Kirstenbosch) and they weren't overflowing so I assume that they are serviced regularly.
Apparently visitors are permitted to fish in the river and plenty of dogs were in evidence. See once the park is on an elevated slope in a clear-air zone I found it quite...
