I was pleasantly surprised! I was really expecting the place to be a lot smaller, but was impressed by the size and variety of birds and all the little monkeys.

We drove from Cape Town and it was a scenic drive through the mountain roads to Hout Bay. It wasn’t too long a drive maybe 40min from Blouberg. The roads are beautiful filled with trees but take it slow because of the narrow streets, twists and turns.

Upon arriving there was decent amount of parking and we didn’t need to queue on the day to get in. The entry fee was a little high BUT after doing the tour it was worth it. We took all the family and kids, from as young as 17 months up to 9 years old. The kids really loved it, when the littlest one.

The place was clean, staff were friendly, there are easy access toilets, a cafeteria and ample seating to enjoy a lunch or picnic as well. They do provide you with a map of the facility which is great because we may have missed a lot of secret spots if we didn’t follow the map. Viewing the birds and monkeys was great, you can often get up close to many of them and they even had some wild cats which was a nice surprise. Everything from birds and reptiles, to monkeys and tortoises. We spent quite a few hours there.

The highlight for us was the little monkey tour where you can go into one of the big cages with a tour guide and the little monkeys run around climbing all over you. The kids loved it. (So did I)

I have to admit that while in the facility I felt like I wasn’t in Cape Town anymore. The backdrop of the mountain and the tropical trees combined with the sounds of the birds and animals made me feel like I was in a jungle in Asia.

I highly recommend you visit World of Birds especially if you are looking to take your kids and family somewhere for...

I love birds, and this sanctuary was one of the main reasons I chose to travel to Cape Town. I’m so glad I made the visit β€” the park was much larger than I expected, and although I had planned to stay for just two hours, I ended up spending nearly four.

The birds were stunning. Some are injured or require human care because they can’t return to the wild, while others are former pets from other continents. I really appreciated that this sanctuary provides a safe and enriching space for animals who can no longer survive in the wild.

The staff were very friendly and happy to share stories about the animals if you ask. One of the most unexpected and magical parts of the visit was discovering that the park is also home to other animals like porcupines, meerkats, and squirrel monkeys. I hadn’t known about the monkey section, but it turned out to be an incredible experience β€” the monkeys roam freely, and at one point, a mother monkey with her baby climbed onto my lap and stayed for a while! The staff kindly took lots of photos and videos for me while I played with them.

The park wasn’t crowded at all, so I was able to enjoy it peacefully and at my own pace. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves animals β€” especially birds and monkeys!

Just make sure to bring a raincoat or an umbrella when it's rainy since all the animals...

We had an AMAZING day! There are so many beautiful birds to see and most of the enclosures are open - which basically means you get the chance to walk amongst the birds and take beautiful pictures. Some of the birds: πŸ”πŸ“πŸ§πŸ•ŠοΈπŸ¦…πŸ¦†πŸ¦’πŸ¦‰πŸ¦©πŸ¦šπŸ¦œπŸ¦ There are also guinea pigs 🐹, tortoises 🐒, snap turtles, serval cats, monkeys πŸ’, lemurs, reptiles 🦎🐍, giant snails 🐌, alpacas πŸ¦™, goats 🐏 and many more! The monkey feed was by far the best experience of the day. Having these little critters climb & jump over you & being able to watch their silly antics close-up, was definitely one of my favourite things to do! Can't wait to visit them again 😁 One thing I think one tends to maybe not take much notice of (too many distractions) are the flowers and plants. 🌻🌼🌱🌳🌺 They are really quite beautiful. The restaurant has a sufficient variety to choose from I suppose. I was not very impressed with the staff in the restaurant. They could be a bit more friendly. A smile goes a long way! The rest of the parks staff were really very friendly & professional. Thank you! 😊 If you are looking for a days outing well worth the trip & money, then I would suggest a visit to World of Birds...

We were abit disappointed in the overall experience we had at this park, we had been to other parks before this which were fantastic. This park was large but we were left feeling sad for alot of the animals, from the parking lot we could hear loud yelling and screaming of children on a school tour - I cannot imagine the stress this must put on the animals. We went through the bird exhibits and saw birds hyperventilating and many birds appeared to be in rough shape and with alot of missing feathers - some of the birds could be seen pulling very hard on their own feathers. I suspect this is due to disease or stress, their food does not appear fresh. Empty seed shells or mouldy food is all I could see for these animals. I feel "sanctuary" is an unfit name for this facility, for example we had been at Cango Wildlife Park which has birds as well, they were in much better shape and overall conditions were substantially busy. I would skip this stop if you were thinking of making a trip here.
