Being a dual lane road on a national highway it is very possible to miss the beautiful views the pass has to offer. The pass has average speed camera control ensuring people don't speed, but I would advise that you take it even slower and enjoy the views. On the Cape Town side you have the entire peninsula stretched out all the way from Somerset West to Simonstown and the Cape Town CBD. On Grabouw's side you have the beautiful forests, mountains and the Steenbras dam. There is a lookout point on Cape Town's side, but it's a bit difficult to take the turn off when going towards Grabouw so I recommend you pull off on your way back. The road quality is very good and it's dual lanes on both sides of the mountain so you hopefully won't get stuck behind...
Read moreOften stopp here to enjoy the view but today was the last time. No visitors except a "management vehicle" with staff parked at the entrance. All three of the"baboon-proof" bins had their heavy lids taken completely off and the entire area looked worse than a garbage tip with litter covering the entire parking and surrounding nature while a troop of baboons picked through the bins. Staff member sat on the wall doing absolutely nothing to prevent it. Absolutely disgusting, and sadly I see more and more scenic places turn into dumps...

The turns are quite sharp and the road itself is very busy so if you would like to feel safe and enjoy the view I recommend turning into the viewing spot indicated by a brown sign just as you approach the peak of the road...
