Stopped at this place on Monday afternoon for our last meal in South Africa on our way to the airport. Even though the place wasn't full, it was a mistake. After 25 minutes of waiting for our order (which was the usual waiting time for any restaurant in South Africa, even very full ones), I explained our waitress we don't have a lot of time and asked for our order. I was told our meal is taking care of as they've just finished cooking a meal for a family who ordered before us. In 20 more minutes I found our waitress and told her we have a plane to catch. She went to the kitchen and returned with very sad news: they haven't even started to cook our meal. We had to pay for our drinks and leave immediately being very hungry. We asked why we were not informed that the wait was so long, and the woman at the cashier desk has told our waitress she should have told us that the wait is more than an hour (!!!) The only place with such a bad service during our 10 days in South Africa, don't recommend you to visit it in case you don't have at least 1.5-2 hours...
Read moreWent for tea tasting and lunch, did it with them many years ago and it was superb, and as both our kids love rooibos we promised them if we ever go to Clanwilliam we will take them for the experience.
Firstly we had to virtually beg to have it as we were told outright no but after a manager intervened the tasting proceeded, last time we were told stories and history this time round just given a sheet to read and decide what you want to taste, no explanation nothing.
Lunch I ordered Roosterkoek and boerewors huge dissapointment very average. My wife ordered pulled pork chiabata and she loved it, the rooibos milkshakes also very nice.
A memorable moment spending over a R1000 for tasting and lunch plus another R500 afterwards in the shop really left all of us very dissapointed.
Maybe we got to them when they were really not in the mood and maybe we should have taken the no first time round.
Hopefully whoever goes after us have better luck than us we...
