Read moreWhere to start? We had the best time at Bacco today! We booked for a wine tasting and ended up staying for a few more hours for lunch and the best dessert ever. Carla, the Smoked Brie Basque is next level delicious. I could eat just that! We loved how Carla (owner/chef/manager) took the time to take guests through the menu options, make perfect recommendations and then kept popping back to check that we were all enjoying ourselves. I've not seen such hands-on management in long time. She's a breath of fresh air!
Our sommelier, Lee-Roy was amazing. He was warm and friendly and had so much knowledge about the estate and its wines, answering even the most technical questions with confidence and ease. He recommended the perfect wines for each of our dishes and was very attentive throughout our visit. He has a great sense of humour and is a huge asset to the estate.
We had paired canapés with our wine tasting and they were all delicious. We followed our tasting with cheeses from their cheese trolley and then had the Charred Corn Risotto, Squid Fritto Misto and 30-Yolk Oxtail Raviolo. Everything was sublime! If you love good food, then this is the place to visit. We ended our meal with The Coffee Bean (tiramisu) and the Smoked Brie Basque (baked cheesecake). The cheesecake was the most surprising dish. Smokey, salty/sweet with delicious sweet-sour cherries. Divine!
I highly recommend that everyone visit Bacco, but book ahead and prepare to spend at least...
Read moreHad a lovely lunch friendly service and beaitiful architecture and paintings an seating. Place is not that new about 3 years old ..the service is friendly and attentive. Even if you purchase a glass of wine , the waitress will provide u with the background of the wine which was informative . We ordered the seared tuna on a rice cake ...the rice is Like the fried rice you get in sushi at the bottom with some slices of seared tuna on top . Price was 220 . The flavors were delicate and flavorsome. The brioche bun they give you before the meal is delicious, wish we could buy them to take away ...would be a lovely add on for the growing business. I was not too fond of the berry and white chocolate spread they give u to go with the brioche bun ..to sweet on sweet ...some olive or basil butter would be a better pairing with it...just a suggestion ...note the bread and spread are free . Dessert was the opera gateau...alittle too stodggy for me and all just soaked texture....some nuts or crisp in between the layers would be nice ..dessert 80 . Relaxing atmosphere to catch up woth friends . Note there is a gravel road leading to the entrance that might not be suitable for very low cars ...it is quite rickety the road. However this restaurant is on the framschoek tram route so you could...
