A very significant historic monument and with a striking design. Well worth a visit. It deserves to be better marketed and to receive proper attention. The place was in a great condition with my visit today. Lovely rural surroundings. It is also interesting to read the history and more should perhaps be provided on site. This spot marked the last conventional battle of the war and after the british broke through at this point the guarilla warfare stage started which also let to the concentration camp policy. It aldo is the point of the biggest artilay bombardment in history at that point in time....

The road that lead through the entrance pillars have been moved some time ago to a proper turnoff. The road is tarred all the way to the Monument. There are clear signs on the highway. Fir the turnoff. The place has aged but someone is taking care of it. Most likely the owners of the Berg en Dal farm so all in all it is in good nick if there is no budget assigned for upkeep and it is a labour of love/heritage. The lawn was mowed and the area was clean without litter. Someone has also sprayed the weeds. A little bit of peace in a place that...

I have often driven past this monument but never took the time to stop. Up close it looks a lot more significant than from the road, but the real significance lies in what it commemorates. Visualising where things happened in history often gives the perfect context to really appreciate the history for what it is. This monument is therefore well...
