Nature and Animal lovers, have you been to Dullstroom Bird of Prey and Rehabilitation Centre
We took a drive out one morning to see the birds and what they do in terms of rehabilitating these wild animals. It's extremely quiet and hardly any visitors when we went. It's quite a large "park" to walk around. Word of advice remember your sunscreen and cap if it's a sunny day. By the time we walked around then sat and waited for the first "show" to begin,I looked like a roasted Tomato š , as it was too hot and I was too lazy to walk back uphill to the car to fetch my cap.
Our guide Magdali clearly had a passion for what she does and how she interacts with these birds and understands their needs. They try to send as many as they can back into the wild, but sadly some are just not strong enough to be rehabilitated back to their former glory.
They are amazing animals, and it's always good to learn something new. Not too many pics as some of them were well hidden in their cages.
Definitely an informative morning for me. You can donate or sponsor an animal, and they have the most intriguing names ever to suit their character and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was such a special experience. We went there on a freezing cold day and were fortunate to catch an afternoon show when the mist lifted for long enough. We were the only people there and had such an awesome show, the presenter went out of her way to show us all of the birds and the fact that if was just the four members of my family counted in our favour as my eight year old son got to hold a Harris Hawk. He was extatic and wants to go back again and again. Best part of his trip to kruger part, and it was not even in kruger park.
I was so impressed by the passion of the people who work there, the delicious WARM food (particularly Soup) served at the coffee show on site.
We will definitely be back, possibly even on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI did the "handling experience" at Birds of Prey and it was truly unforgettable. From the moment I arrived, I received an enthusiastic and heartfelt explanation about their work. It became clear very quickly that their mission is all about rescuing animals, releasing them back into the wild whenever possible, or providing a safe and loving home when thatās no longer an option.
I learned so much during the experience and left with a deep sense of gratitude and admiration for what they do. This is not a commercial ventureāitās driven entirely by passion, care, and love for the animals.
Highly recommended for anyone who wants to connect with these incredible birds and support a place that genuinely makes...
