I had a great time here was with a friend on a Saturday,we arrived around 12:30 went to the reception where we were given the visitor guide which helped us through the museum and the white sticker. The guy we found was nice and helpful.Saturdays are free to South African citizen but donations acceptable on any other day during the week it’s R40.00 per adult and R5.00 per child,we wanted to get something eat by the restaurant unfortunately they were already closing since there had no visitors before us,I think we were the first visitors in there so we could only get water and drinks they couldn’t prepare anything for us(not complaining since they explained to use why they were closing). We walked around and had great in the music hall which showcases pianos and other musical instrument that place looks lovely😍 the old trains, and I guess the working train station, old telephones there was a lot but I was hoping to see the vintage car which weren’t present but the experience was lovely I would recommend the place and I am definitely going to come back, the restroom had no running water but they had clean water stored in buckets,to help flush and wash hands well kept rest room and clean.Sadly the pond had no water but they have been having problems with water in Dundee and I guess it...

I would rate Talana as one of the best Museums I have seen in South Africa, and I have seen many. There are numerous, varied exhibits and if you really want to take full advantage, you should book a guide, and be prepared to spend the entire day here. There is just way too much to see.

The glass museum is particularly insightful with some pieces created by our own glass-artists. We had a very well traveled Russian friend with us, who reckoned it was one of her best experiences in South Africa.

There is also a reasonably priced restaurant (which we did not use), or like us, you can pack a nice picnic basket. The entry fees are exceptionally reasonable, and the experience is one you really need to share with your children. Just remember that there are no guides available on a Sunday.

There is ample reasonably priced accommodation nearby and I personally recommend Kwa-Rie Caravan park and lodge. It will make for a perfect weekend getaway for...

On the very site of the first battle of the Second Boer War in 1899, this vast complex, spread across 23 buildings, offers fascinating insights not just into the decisive battle of Talana Hill, but into everyday life in South Africa during the transition from the 19th to the 20th Centuries. The buildings house an eclectic array of artefacts, from farm implements to weapons to ox-wagons to women’s fashion to beadwork to glassware. There are also thought-provoking displays on the First World War, the work and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi, the coal-mining industry of the region, and much more. The grounds are spacious and ideal for a leisurely wander, and you can enjoy a very reasonably priced meal at the restaurant on site. Spend a few hours here, and take the trail up the battle-hill too. This is a very well looked-after site that is well worth the small...

This museum is definitely worth a visit. They have an exceptional wide variety of information and exhibits. The Anglo-Boer and Anglo-Zulu wars are captured in detail. There is also a display on the mining industry. Allow yourself adequate time to visit all the different exhibition houses - there is a lot to see and appreciate. They charge a small entrance fee, have convenient restrooms and observe covid regulations. After the meandering you can enjoy a light meal at the restaurant.
