Awesome place to just picnic with the family or go on a wild adventure. I've tried the Gorge swing a few years back and it remains one of the best experiences for me. Word of advice, don't eat before doing it. It's not like bungee jumping because you're not left dancing by your feet. You jump and end up in a sitting position with the safety harness around you. It's completely safe for most ages but use wisdom and safety as a parent with young kids. There'll be plenty of time to do this when your kids are older.
The suspension bridge is cool and accessible for all ages. This place is not recommended for people with a fear of heights as most areas around here are very high up. It has breathtaking views and stunning photo opportunities. The suspension bridge is NOT ONE WAY, you can go back even if there are others on the bridge just stick to the limit of people on the bridge and cross each other safely.
There's plenty of view spots to picnic and we came across people aged around 80 years to little ones aged around 2 years old. There are other activities to do, I haven't tried them all. There's paintball, the water slide, water rafting and abseiling. There is an entrance fee of R20pp that's if you just want to picnic or look around and prices for activities range from about R150 to R650. I would suggest budgeting and enquiring ahead about the activities you plan on doing as some are also weather dependent.
You're given a map on entry but it can be a bit confusing. There's also marked points everywhere. We've been there a few times and taken food in from different outlets. If you do So, pack bags to use as bins and do not litter. We used the coffee shop there a few years back and has hot coffee and scones, I'm not sure if that's...
Read moreMy wife, Monnique, and myself are real estate agents in Margate. After finding out that one of our clients is a thrill seeker, Monnique informed her about the Gorge Swing at Oribi Gorge (Wild 5 Adventures). Our client then told Monnique that she needs to do it with her. Long story short, these two ladies built on their relationship by leaping from the face of a cliff, much to my horror.
They had a incredible time, and, although trembling afterwards, Monnique said that she would definitely do it again in the future. The staff were incredible, full of laughs and interacted with everyone in the most wonderful way.
You can purchase a USB with footage of the jump from the office. Both Monnique and our client purchased one. When we got home, we plugged in the USBs and only one worked. Our client's one showed an error. They were leaving for JHB the in two days so I sent Wild 5 Adventures an email early in the morning. Even though it was a Sunday, we received such a swift response from them and they transferred the folder to us after locating the correct jumper's video. A huge thank you to Nhloso for your timely response and your efforts for helping us out.

Read moreFor those that are thrill seeking, adrenaline chasers and fancy an adventure hike, this is for you.
Finding the wild 5 adventures was simple, their signs are everywhere and easy to follow.
Their staff are super friendly and great conversationalists especially if you’re going to do the exhilarating leap off the edge. They keep you calm and relaxed.
The scenery is incredibly beautiful and fresh. I would suggest going in the earlier part of the day, you might catch the sunlight hit the waterfall creating a spectacular rainbow over the lush green and blue cloud sky backdrop.
If the free fall rush isn’t for you, a great option would be the slide.
Over the suspension bridges you will be able to see a fantastic view of the entire fall.
If you choose to do the hike, DO NOT START AFTER 3. The trail is only 150m but it is a rocky trail that requires you to be able to see as the forest is quite dense and as the sun sets, it gets pretty dark. Wear appropriate clothes, shoes so you don’t slip and carry plenty of water.
A real hidden gem of South Africa. 10/10...
