A wonderful beach with a blue flag rating (simply meaning that this beach has been rated as being one of the better and more pristine beaches around). No dogs allowed on this beach. Lifeguards are usually around to keep an eye on things and there is a shark net placed into the ocean for protection, making this beach a lot more family friendly and safer when you go for a swim. In addition to the family friendly comment, there is also a little playground for young children right by thr beach and restaurants. There are restaurants and a place to get a good ice cream right on the beach front for convenience. This is by far one of the warmest parts of Cape Town ocean you are able to swim in without a wetsuit (you just need to give your body a few minutes to adjust). Watch out for seagulls if you have any food...those guys aren't shy! Take note that during peak hours during the day, if you want to park right by the beach in the allocated parking lot, there is a fee of about R16 and after peak time it is free. However, if you just drive up the road there are a few places where you can park for free if you look around. You can even park outside a shop in the street...

The beach is stretched over a large area and so you will always find plenty of space to enjoy your surroundings. The bay at Fish Hoek beach offers great swimming facilities and the warmer False Bay water is a plus. It is also a great beach if you’re just starting to surf or would like to gain confidence in the water by body boarding.
Make use of the long expanse of sand by taking a walk along the shoreline and enjoying the activity in the ocean, especially during whale season. Pop up to the beachfront shops for a cup of coffee or an ice cream cone on a very hot day. Don’t be surprised if you find there are dogs running along the beach or the adjacent catwalk as this is a...
