Plettenvale Wines - Vineyard Cottages + Suites — Attraction in George

I was disappointed with my experience at Plettenvale Wines. As a wine enthusiast visiting Knysna, I had high hopes for a wine tasting at this well-known wine farm. Unfortunately, the professionalism displayed during my interactions with the owner left much to be desired.

Prior to my visit, I called to book a wine tasting. During the conversation, I inquired about the availability of food, to which the owner, Gloria, informed me that they did not offer any, so we decided to grab a quick bite to eat at a nearby petrol station on our way to the wine farm.

We were six minutes behind the scheduled time when I received a call from Gloria. After telling her that we’d be there shortly, she told me that we had kept her waiting and bluntly informed me not to bother coming, citing her unwell state. I understand how frustrating it can be for people not to honour their commitments, especially when one is feeling unwell. However, I was taken aback by the rudeness of her response and felt the situation could have been handled more tactfully. I believe that a welcoming and respectful demeanour towards visitors, even in challenging situations, is crucial in the hospitality industry. Unfortunately, that was not the case during our experience at this wine farm and it was disheartening to have to turn around and drive back after being dismissed so abruptly.

Regrettably, we never had the opportunity to taste their wines, but given how we were treated, I cannot recommend Plettenvale Wines to others. I hope that they take this feedback constructively to improve their service...

The natural beauty of the area is simply breathtaking, with lush vineyards and majestic see and mountain views creating a serene ambiance. The cottages themselves are cozy and charming, perfect for a romantic getaway or intimate wedding celebration.

What makes Plettenvale Wine Cottages truly special, however, is its suitability for weddings and elopements. The venue offers a romantic and secluded atmosphere, with stunning views that provide a perfect backdrop for exchanging vows.

We highly recommend Plettenvale Wine Cottages to anyone looking for a beautiful and intimate setting for their special day. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and the entire experience is sure to leave you with lifelong memories.

I am really dissappointed in the professionalism of this wine farm. We were a group of 20 people looking to do a wine tasting and pairing. I phoned in to query about the costs, wines, etc. The lady to whom I spoke to (I'm assuming it was the owner) did not elaborate a lot on the questions that I asked her and after asking whether the pairing is included in the price she had given me, she laughed at me and asked, "Are you mad?". Whilst continuing to try and talk to her, she kept laughing during the conversation. I felt completely talken down to and belittled. We immediately decided to take our business elsewhere as it was clear that our business was not needed. We went to Luka Wine Farm, where we were greeted warmly and treated with the utmost respect. All the staff including the manager, were very professional and we were made a priority throughout our entire visit.
