Superb trail to hike. It is estimated at 4hours however we pushed through on a mildly windy day and did the 9km hike in a little over 2 hours. We were 5px, experienced hikers and found this to be manageable. The inclines are steep and the declines are deep. You want good walking shoes/sneakers with excellent grip. At some points along the way there are ropes on the rocks to assist getting across the steep ridges. The trail also includes wooden board walks with balustrades for safety. Also along the way are sandy areas. Which is why you want good quality walking shoes. The views are breathtaking. If you are fit, do the 9km walk, you will love it. Try going earlier in the morning to avoid heavy sun. We arrived around 10am. It was not too bad but I would recommend earlier starts for those who are uncertain of their fitness levels. We loved the hiking trail! Also treat yourself to a wonderful cup of coffee/ milk shake or juice at the little takeaway coffee bar on the mountain after your hike. Take sunscreen and 750ml water to 1litre water...

You should also set off as early as possible. I was there at 08:50 on a sunny Sunday and the car park was already full. I walked the Point Route, which took me about 4.5 hours including a few breaks to enjoy the view. Although it was "only" supposed to be 25°C that day, I was well and truly baked by the sun from 10am onwards and there was virtually no shade - another argument in favour of an early start. The route is heavenly beautiful and very varied, sometimes you walk on dust paths, sometimes over sand, sometimes over wooden planks, there are also several steep steps to climb and between The Point and Witsand you also have to scramble over boulders on your hands and feet several times - but that's actually fun. I really enjoyed the tour! Note: if you want to do the Point Circuit, you have to pass the t-cross to...

There are three loops you can choose from. The short walk takes you to the gap. Not really much so see there - go further.
The medium long walk takes you to a stretch of drift sand and down to a beautiful long beach. Here you can see seals surfing waves. We even swam with them.
Along the medium and long walk you will see, hear and smell the seal colonies on the rocks below. These colonies are home to thousands of seals which can be spotted from the trial. When you see how dirty the water is around those colonies, you think twice about snorkelling with seals😄
The long walk takes you all the way to the tip of the peninsula - it is some 9km long (3-4 hrs walk but don’t rush there is so much so see)!
We walked the medium walk with our 2 year old in the backpack and had a long beach picnic at the foot of the drift sand. Such a beautiful day!
Take loads of water and sun screen. The walk itself isn’t too hard but requires a bit of climbing and...
