A stunner. Indescribable beauty. However, I advise you NOT to take the Woodcutter's trail if you wish to stay on the hike for a longer time: We walked the Fisherman's, then came to a sign saying Forest Loop. We took Forest, and at some point a sign read Woodcutter's, which we then took. Woodcutter's brings you to a very steep path where you emerge from the top of the forest, onto a tar road in the golf estate. We had to walk about 30min on the golf cart roads, then came onto the tar roads, which we followed back to the trails parking. So, should you wish for someone to pick you up at some point, Woodcutter's might be the way to go. However, if, like us, you would have liked to stay on the paths inside the forest, rather continue to follow the Fisherman's. Birdwatchers: we saw the yellow throated woodland warbler, olive woodpecker, and Knysna curacao, which were lifers for some members of the...
Read moreI'm not a hiker and wasn't a huge fan of this trail as I spent most the time concentrating on my step unable to check out the view. As other people have said it's STEEP and on an often uneven trail, I decided not to finish the steps to the beach and instead enjoyed the view point. My friend who is an avid hiker found it no problem, but I felt very unfit! Its also not great on the knees as there are HUGE steps down. Whilst on the trail a group of wild baboon's crossed our path twice, I quite enjoyed this however; they can obviously be very territorial and vicious. The other thing to mention is there doesn't appear to be any other way back (if you've parked at the marked location) so you're some what committed. In total my phone recorded this as 7.5km, so definitely longer...
Read moreWatch out for snakes! There was a night adder venomous snake right next to the parking lot so there are more in the area. The trail was not very difficult. But you should make sure to have proper shoes. It is not very long. The beach in the end. It's very beautiful and safe to swim. There are some rocks around that are very nice to climb and explore the surroundings. There are some picnic areas along the hike, some branches. There are some animals visible along the way like deer and a lot of birds. The hike will guide you through the pretty thick forest as well as it will open up on the top of the hill giving you beautiful views over the coast. I definitely recommend this truck for a...
