Bateleur Bushveld Camp — Attraction in Greater Giyani Local Municipality

This is a truly wonderful bush camp!

Thatched cottages tucked away under the forest canopy, in the middle of summer we were cool in the shade of the beautiful old trees, scattered throughout the camp.

The open air kitchen is modern with everything you need to prepare lovely meals. The camp chickens (spurfowl) are really cute and come to visit periodically, we also had hornbills, babblers, barbets and Africa green pigeon visit.

The rooms were also modern and neat, we had dstv and an aircon, although we never turned the TV on. Showers were clean and worked properly, which shouldn't be taken for granted or overlooked.

There are neatly swept trails throughout the camp, perfect for walking the perimeter, visiting the hide and looking for birds. We had a herd of elephant and buffalo at the hide on our second night.

Bateleur is in my top 3 camps for Kruger, I'd definitely recommend...

If you want peace and quite and get away from the crowds, this is the place. A remote camp with only 7 chalets. Roads around the camp are only for use of quests and there is no cell phone reception, adding to the remote feeling. Note that there is no restaurant nor food for sale. Only ice and firewood are available at reception. (The nearest basic shop is at Shingwedzi about an hours drive via gravel). A birders paradise and at a dam in the area you will see a lot of game including hippo. The camp is well managed and well maintained and is free from monkeys. Esperienza eccezionale. Il più piccolo e vecchio dei bush camp del Kruger, con solo sette bungalow, peraltro rinnovati. Se siete alla ricerca di un po' di privacy, soprattutto nei periodi in cui il parco è affollato, Bateleur fa per voi. Ci sono stato nel 2023 e ci tornerò nel 2025. I bungalow da 4-6 posti hanno due o tre camere, due bagni (uno con doccia e uno con vasca), condizionatore nella campera principale e ventilatori nelle altre. La cucina è nel portico esterno e questo richiede un minimo di attenzione nel non lasciare materiale o cibo in giro. come in tutti i campi di questo tipo, dovete essere autosufficineti per i pasti. Ristorante, shop e distributore di carburante più vicini sono a Shindwedzi. Il personale è gentile e premuroso. chiedete consigli al ranger-on-duty su dove ci sono stati i migliori avvistamenti di recente. Fuori dal bungalow c'è una vaschetta dove potete mettere acqua e nel giro di qualche minuto attirare una variopinta combricola di uccelli. Il capanno d'osservazione non ci ha dato gran soddisfazioni ma ammetto che ci siamo stati poco tempo. La cosa più bella del campo è la sua solitudine, ed il fatto che un breve tratto di strada è riservata in maniera esclusiva agli ospiti del campo. Questo tratto comprende la bellissima Silwervis Dam, che ci ha regalato grandi soddisfazioni con gli uccelli e il leopardo. Il bellissimo isolamento di Bateleur è alla base dell'unica nota negativa che ho trovato: essendo in un cul de sac in fondo alla S52, al mattino e alla sera non avete molte alternative per i safari nelle ore più propizie, e inoltre sia all'alba che al tramonto avrete il...
