I'm rating this nature reserve based on the diversity of the park. However there is much desired for the overall condition of the facilities in the park. The picnic area was maintained and the braai facilities was in good condition. The little bridge going over the stream is working but will require some attention soon. I was visiting just after heavy rainfall and thus the beach was dirty with much debris and driftwood, as well as rubbish and dirt washing from upstream. The park ranger that took payment for entry was well presented, clean uniform and very knowledgeable and passionate. His presence made me somewhat less worried about petty crime and or potential vehicle break in as I was the only person at the picnic park at the given time. Across the river, some nudists basked in the sun, and was unperturbed by any passersby on the other side where I was visiting. I believe this park and beach is a nudist friendly environment but it didn't bother me at all. I did not visit the ablutions, therefor I can...

Beautiful place to go for a short hike and get submerged in nature. While hiking we saw monkeys, blue duiker, different birds (including fish eagle). Parts of the trail are not well maintained unfortunately. The boardwalk was even out of order and not accessible :-( Worth While nonetheless. The subtropical Dune vegetation and numerous beach acces and view points are really nice. You can also just take your own food and drinks and have a great braai at the rivers mouth. Braai stands and toilets are there. Place closes at 17:00

Adult entrance fee R20. There is a little children's play area with swings and things to climb on. The river is accessible from certain points in the reserve if you want bring along your canoe/kayak. You can also take your dog - but make sure you also have a leash. There are braai areas and sitting areas as well
