Mkhambathi Nature Reserve — Attraction in Ingquza Hill Local Municipality

My cousin and I had an amazing time at Mkambati Nature Reserve. We booked for 3 days and 2 nights. We slept in one of the cottages. The cottage was clean & packed with every necessity that we'd need for the duration of our stay.

On the second day, we set our targets to explore the nature reserve and we had tour guides with us to help us achieve our wishes. Our tour guides were Zanoxolo Ngcolosi and Athi Mthembu. 2 great gentlemen that spent the whole day with us, took us to 3 Falls. Mkambati Falls, Strand Lopper Falls and Horseshoe Falls. Prior to visiting the falls, our vehicle got stuck in the mud and we lost about an hour trying to get it moving. In that whole hour, the 4 of us were trying our best to get the vehicle moving & we eventually succeeded thanks to the efforts of Zanoxolo and Athi.

Our 3rd day, we woke up with no water. This had started the night before. We reported this at reception and the staff apologized. We then went to vultures restaurant.

Suggestions All signage needs huge improvement. On your way to the vulture restaurant, within the falls, on the path to the dam/ocean. Please consider canoeing/kayaking at Strand Lopper When entering the reception, a contact number should be assigned for a guest. On the 2nd night, we ran out of water until we reported it the morning after.

It's unfortunate that we couldn't explore other falls located at Gwe Gwe because the area is restricted as there is construction going on but that didn't deter us as we had already been blessed seeing the 3 falls.

My friends and I had an amazing time in Mkambati. Lwazi and the staff provided great hospitality. The accomodation was clean and they offer a fully equipped kitchen for self catering. If you are looking for unspoilt terrain, coupled with wonderful beach experience Mkambati is the place to book, ideal for group or family gateaway or solo traveller who needs to finid their research studies. Make sure you bring all your food supplies and travel in a high clerance vehicle (2x4 or 4x4)....

Administration staff and manager are friendly and very helpful. Accommodation is neat and clean. The view of the ocean is spectacular. Cleaning staff is friendly.
