Waterfall Bluff – A Hidden Gem on the Wild Coast
Waterfall Bluff is truly one of the best waterfalls in South Africa, and one of the very few that fall directly into the ocean — an absolutely breathtaking sight. The scenery is spectacular, with waves crashing against rugged cliffs, creating a dramatic and unforgettable backdrop.
It’s quite a walk to get there but all worth it. It’s spectacular, amazing, beautiful… and more. A must-go-to!!! We chose a shorter hike, but that means you definitely need a 4x4 vehicle to reach the starting point. The road is slippery and wet in places, so be prepared — it’s an adventure!
Still, it’s a beautiful place but VERY hard to get to! Add an hour to the ETA suggested by Google and make sure you’re driving something reliable. A proper 4WD is recommended, although a high-clearance vehicle can possibly make it if driven carefully.
The walk itself is scenic and peaceful, with rewarding views at every turn. When you finally reach the falls, you're greeted with a powerful, majestic drop of water crashing straight into the sea — it’s like something out of a dream. This is the Wild Coast at its most raw and beautiful.

There are locals that can help carry for a small fee. No cellphone reception means that everyone chat and cook together. Keep your belongings safe in the cabbins or on you, one person in our group 'lost' his wallet which was in the cabin the whole time and it miraculously appeared after we left....
