Bloukrans Bungy — Attraction in Kou-Kamma Local Municipality

An incredible experience and an absolute must-do for adrenaline seekers. Almost perfect, but let down by a couple of, easily fixable, weak points.

Positives:

Almost everything about Bloukrans Bungy is excellent. The jump itself was one of the best things I've ever done. The views were breathtaking, the zipline was a wonderful taster of the adrenaline to be experienced, and the walk back was another jaw dropping part of the day. The safety was uncompromising which was very reassuring. The staff were excellent albeit a bit distant and that's part of the reason why this is only 4/5*.

Negatives:

Communication The jump and set-up happens very quickly with zero communication or chat from the staff. The requisite safety talk happens at the beginning but after that, the process is a bit like a conveyer belt to get the jumpers done. It would have been nice to have a quick explanation about what was being done and some friendly chat. If one were nervous before this experience, the lack of friendly banter would make things worse. For example, I was called forward for my jump, harnessed up, and off the bridge in around 5minutes. I went through 2-3 different people's hands and in that time, I did not receive a single piece of information from the staff about what was being done or the process of the jump. This was disappointing. I think given the nature of activity, some conversation would go a long way. A small fix to add a big benefit.

Photography and Videography The photos and videos taken are not worth it in their current state. The quality in which they are provided is absolutely atrocious. My video was a 1:30 video at 93mb, and around half of that time was the filler shots of the surroundings and the Bloukrans Bungy logos .etc. It is, at best, only just about adequate enough for social media. If you want to keep a high quality video for future, ask someone to take one on their phone. Luckily my partner was undertaking the walk on the bridge and was able to take a video on her phone.

The photos are the same story and average around 300kb! Atrocious quality and not worth the money. The photos were being taken on an DSLR so I know the high resolution quality is available.

Conclusion In spite of the negatives listed above, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Bloukrans Bungy. It was an incredible experience and I would do it again. I think with some minor changes as I've mentioned above, it would be a perfect, world-class...

I had the pleasure of visiting Face Adrenaline Bungee Jumping while visiting Knysna as part of a trip to South Africa. Having done a skydive before, a bungee jump was another on the bucket list, and where better to do it than off the world's highest bridge bungee with Face Adrenaline at Bloukrans Bridge!

Once you're checked in, you're fitted with your safety harnesses and then you make your way to the bridge. The first part involves you taking a thrilling zipline across to the jumping platform - which really gets the adrenaline pumping.

As I was first in my group to both zipline and also bungee, there wasn't actually much time for me to think about it. You get strapped in, with the team talking through all the safety protocols they have in place, and then you hop up to the edge. I would say I was nervous, but I was so excited to experience it, that the nerves didn't really come, so you just bend your legs, push off, and experience the amazing freefall.

It was one of the most thrilling things I've ever done (and likely will do!). It was a pure thrill and was really good fun. They are very quick in coming down to collect you, so you weren't hanging upside down for very long. Before you know it, you're back on solid ground again.

The team running the operation are true professionals. They were friendly, fun, and encouraging, wanting you to get the best out of the experience. They made me feel completely safe and at ease throughout the entire experience.

The photography and video package was also great, and they email you almost straight away a very professional video and photo package. For the quality, I think the price is very much worth it. It's also very good fun to watch back!

My wife and I took the plunge at Bloukrans Bridge last November, and it was truly an experience of a lifetime! Bloukrans is known as the highest commercial bridge bungee jump in the world, standing at an impressive 216 meters above the Bloukrans River Gorge.
