Read moreGoing to view the Big Tree at Tsitsikama is worth the trip. All roads as well as the parking area is paved, and the area is nice and clean. The fee for the permit to go view the tree is relatively inexpensive and if you are a Wild Card holder entrance is free. There are 3 different walking trails of varying distances, all leading to the Big Tree. The standard route is about 1km in total with the first half winding through the forest on beautiful and well maintained wooden path ways. The Big Tree is massive and makes for awesome photos, and the forest surrounding it is lush and green. When we visited they were also busy building what looked like a restaurant / info center so that is something to look out for...

The forest is so clean and when you start the hike you start at the yellow then you can go further to the red if you wish yellow is about 2.6 km hike easy 60 min because of the terrain and when you stand at the start of the yellow trail there a big box open it up and fill in the page in the book and take the paper because that's youre free one day license to hike its for if you come across the anty poucher let you show you hike...
