Our visit to this museum was not planned in advance, it was just a spur-of-the-moment decision and we are very happy we made the trip!

Unassuming from the outside, we did not expect to see such a well-curated and well-stocked collection of artefacts as we walked in. The museum was clean, tidy and organised; you are sort-of guided along by yourself with signs and descriptions giving you important titbits as you move along.

The most moving exhibition had to have been the war memorabilia room. Poems on the walls, war soundtracks playing in the background and a good balance between informative and emotive.

Another little fact we found interesting was that the museum is built in an old laager; the last laager (or fort) to be built in...

For a small country museum the Himeville Museum is outstanding. Congratulations to the curator and those committed and interested folk who support the museum. It is well set out with displays representing all facets of life through the past. Of particular interest was the "Muthi Garden" - a clever and informative exhibit. Well worth a visit! Very nice museum. There where so much to see with such a rich history of what happened there. The detail they put into displays is so good and each display tells its own story. Will defnilty take my kids there one-day when they are old enough to appreciate the history of this...
