Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary is easy for find on the Langverwagten Road to McGregor from Robertson and there's a slow gravel road to the parking area.

The farm is expansive and it would be tricky to move from the parking to the restaurant if you are a wheelchair user.

The food was good though it took a while to arrive and while she delivered good and friendly service, Brittany appeared overworked as she operated both as a waiter, cashier, and in the kitchen.

They feed the rescue donkeys at 12pm and Jermaine is excellent in handling both the donkeys and entertaining guests.

You can also sponsor a recue donkey and they have lots of merchandise on sale which goes toward the support of the farm.

If you're feeling energetic, there's a walk as well or you could sit and enjoy the view on the farm.

There's shading for those very hot...

Lovely experience both times coming here. Great for all people of all ages. The area is beautiful. There is a walk around the area allowing you to know more about the land and allow you to reflect on the area you are at.

The donkeys are friendly and the staff is warm, giving us personal tours, both times I have been there giving us different information and the tour guides are able to answer all questions that we had.

The restaurant, though small with many different options at a good price. The mats (meant to be place mats) are very informative talking about each donkey and journey which lead them to the sanctuary.

This is a feel good rustic friendly place allowing people to appreciate donkeys and the people...

Beautiful sanctuary. This is really a haven for donkeys with a peaceful atmosphere, large, clean, well-maintained enclosures and people who are genuinely passionate about helping these intelligent, gentle animals. We also got to see the cutest flock of ducklings at their duck pond. They have a cute bookstore where we stocked up on very interesting titles, including a bunch of Afrikaans poetry books for me. The little donkey store has lovely art, toys, wine and more. The restaurant had a vegan option. I would highly recommend visiting this wonderful place and supporting their cause. They really do much needed and valuable work for these animals in the sanctuary and...
