Rough terrain, unmarked trails , some trails had completely been hidden by tall grass or branches . Fortunately we had a guide for our first visit to the reserve

Beautiful scenery just breathtaking natural beauty , the Proteas, The Drakensburg peaks , the fog kissed mountains! It was 14km of awe inspiring nature

The trails are not all the way clearly marked ,in some areas the trail has been overtaken by shrubbery , grass and tree branches My advice would be to go with a park guide/ ranger if it's your first time visiting to avoid getting lost

Take along some water snacks or lunch , wear propper walking shoes Sun protection is paramount and some swimwear for the awesome...

We entered through the Rooikat trail/Agatha reserve entrance and what an adventure it was trying to find the Wilderness area πŸ˜…. We were only given a map of the trail, so had to follow markings on the trees, we got lost but managed to find our way eventually. If you do go this route, ensure you go early and you have a 4x4. When you eventually get to Wolkberg Wilderness, as you drive in there is just this beautiful space filled with common proteas, succulents, flowers, rocks and ofcourse the majestic mountains..really really makes you reflect and appreciate the world we live in. Worth the drive, would definitely...

Wolkberg Nature Reserve is located in Magoebaskloof outside Tzaneen in Limpopo province. They have a number of good trails winding through the mountains and waterfalls. Wolkberg is ideal for hiking and nature enthusiasts. We took the challenging cascade trail and we saw about three waterfalls along the trail. It wasn't easy but we walked till the end...

The staff there is very friendly and helpful, hiking trails are long and tough but are fun when doing them with great company. The rock pools at the end of the trail are worth the long walk, but if your not up to walking then you could always drive down to the Rock pools.
