The campsite at the nature reserve was decent overall. While we usually prefer booking bush camps, we accidentally ended up in the communal campsite, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. As we explored the bush camp sites, we realized they were incredibly small and lacked privacy. They were too cramped for setting up a camper, so we were relieved to have chosen the Hadida site, which was quite pleasant. We were fortunate to have considerate neighbors, although the occasional disturbance from music and a barking dog on the neighboring farm interrupted my sleep throughout the night.
One highlight of the reserve was the impressive 4x4 trail. I highly recommend trying it out if you have a suitable vehicle. However, be aware that some stock 4x4 cars had difficulty completing the trail, so ensure your vehicle is truly capable. Additionally, there's a 4x2 trail available for normal game drives, providing an alternative option.
While the nature park offers plenty of activities, it's important to note that these come at an additional cost, and they're not inexpensive by any means. For example, a game drive for four people costs R450, renting a quad bike for two adults costs R850 for 90 minutes, and even hiking and fishing are not free.
Overall, despite some minor inconveniences and the additional charges for activities, the campsite at the nature reserve provided a decent experience. If you enjoy 4x4 trails and don't mind paying extra for activities, this could be a worthwhile...

I honestly could not ask for more - it's always been exceptional yet they have expanded their activities and its an absolute vibe with rainy weather. We stayed in the Tent town area which was beyond our expectations and was perfect for a couple of camping freaks just like us, there's a personal swimming pool in the middle of the camp area, a braai area with extra fridges for campers/ travelers if you need it, a massive Lapa, huge boma/party area. The most enriching part of this place is definitely the nature, there's abundance of nature, trees, birds and healthy green around you and that's the perfect environment for a break away. If you're into bird watching! This is must go spot we had lots of opportunities to spot birds π¦ also had the gracious opportunity to see a "Piet my vrou" up close and I detail. It's truly been a magnificent experience for weekend away. We have already dotted this down as a must go again spot. There's There's much more to say about this place that I could not simply put in one review & the people are kind, happy and stunning with their service so if you're looking for an adventure, Dewilt is the way π€πΏπ¦β Happy...
Β Β Β Read moreWe are regular visitors and have been for more than thirty years. We always camp, and have done so with either our caravan, our bush trailer or just the rooftop tent on the Land Rover. We also regularly drive over just for the day and then we go on the off-road route, find a nice spot (there are many), and picnic for the day. The opportunities for safe hiking are limitless as is the abundance of birds and game. As I am writing this, we are actually busy getting our gear ready for a full 5 day midweek camping holiday at De Wildt. It is only about 30 kilometres from our home in Villieria and the cost of our midweek is such that we can afford to do so regularly. De Wildt also offers swimming facilities, catch-and-release angling, a cash pub over week-ends as well as a very nice menu over week-ends. Excuse me, I must finish...
