I had the pleasure of visiting the Falcon Ridge Bird of Prey Centre in the stunning Champagne Valley, and I must say it was an incredible experience. The center is home to a diverse range of raptors, many of whom have been rehabilitated from injuries, and it offers a unique opportunity to witness these majestic sky warriors soaring high above the breathtaking Drakensberg Mountains.
The show they put on is nothing short of exceptional. It beautifully showcases the power, speed, and intelligence of these magnificent creatures. What truly set this experience apart, though, was the chance to learn about and understand the individual personalities of these incredible birds.
I'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the remarkable family who runs Falcon Ridge. Their passion for these birds and dedication to their well-being is truly inspiring. It's evident that they pour their hearts and souls into what they do, and it made our visit all the more special.
If you're in the area, I highly recommend a visit to Falcon Ridge Bird of Prey Centre. It's an educational, awe-inspiring, and simply amazing experience that you won't...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic! The birds are the stars ✨ So nice to see so many rare birds. You must see this South African gem! However - what a pity that management and attention to detail is lacking. The toilets leave much to be desired and the kitchen is not up to standard. Staff, while friendly could do with some training, both with regard to serving customers as well as showing a little enthusiasm. The cages and the office are all looking tired. Signage at the cages is old and looks shabby and where spelling mistakes were brought to the attention of staff - it was met with blank looks and shrugged shoulders. I look forward to visiting the centre again and being able to write a report fitting of the special work being done here and fitting of the fantastic...
Read moreWithout a doubt this is one of the best places I have been to. It is a sanctuary for birds of prey from the size of a dove to a martial eagle. Birds are rehabilitated and released back to the wild as well as part of breeding programmes for seriously endangered birds. The people running the centre are extremely dedicated and very professional. I really enjoyed the "flight show" and learnt a hell of a lot from it. I thought I knew a lot about birds of prey and still I learnt a huge amount. I really recommend that, if the opportunity presents itself, that you take the opportunity and go there. R70 is very cheap for what you will learn and it is very entertaining. The environment is pretty. As can be gathered I truly recommend this place and hope you will...
